HP 5470DW Laser Printer
Does anyone use the HP 5470DW Laser printer with a Mac? I am having problems setting the printing to print both legal and letter under one file. I have been printing all on legal as I cannot figure out how to get my printer to see both. I am not getting answers from HP either.

I think I read that it is not possible with a Mac. I think you have to separate your Mac into 1/2 to be able to do that. Don't rely on me though, do a search. I think its been discussed a couple times.

Cathy~ I have a HL-5370DW and use with a MAC - I have never been able to get the two to "talk." Many posters have tried to help to no avail. I agree with others, call the help line. Sorry couldn't help.

I do not have a Mac. If you have a DWT with 2 trays, I had to set that on the printer itself with the arrows. Then I think, I had to tell it I had 2 trays on printer preferences on my computer. The cd that comes with these is for DW so it does not know there are 2 trays and the instructions do not tell you to move the arrows on the printer.

Macs do not have the capability to print according to pdf
dispute between Steve Jobs and Adobe resulted in reduced capability for apple products. unless its been fixed in the last year, since I returned my new Mac for this very reason after a month of trying to make it work and talking to several apple experts and Brother, it won't happen! sorry!!

Cathy, See MSG 415471.
It's not your printer (I have the same printer) or your Mac, it's the Adobe program. It doesn't allow you to "Choose paper source by PDF source file", as it does in the Windows version of Adobe reader. Therefore, you can't choose between both trays. I know--so annoying! I've had to keep an old Windows XP computer (circa 2004) around to print PDFs versus using my nice shiney Mac Pro. It's a shame Adobe and Apple can't agree and talk.

Is it possible to use the PDF Sorter here in NR? It works great when I'm not on a printer that will work this way. Just a thought.

It is called printing "mixed originals". For whatever reason, Mac is not capable of working with duel tray printers.
