Health Insurance
Can anyone recommend a good health insurance plan that is affordable to a notary signing agent? The last quote I got was $500/month with a $2800 deductible six years ago. I have issues with paying $8,800 a year before anything other than just a health screening will be paid for.
Also; I do not believe this belongs on JP or Leisure, as it does apply to most people in the business. I have always paid my medical bills directly via payment plans or upfront; but with the new laws going into effect, need to find other alternatives. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I have a private family health policy that I bought 8 years ago. The cost went from under $300 per month for the family to over $800 per month. We just switched plans to reduce the cost in half. We had to take on higher deductibles but after doing the math, it made sense to switch. We are with Healthnet.
Good Luck!

I am paying $611 just for myself, and that is with a $2000 deductible.

Ahhh, the joys of youth. I'm about as old as Bob_Chicago and therefore about 5+ years younger than HisHughness and we have the benefit of Medicare and G.W. Bush's drug plan which saves a ton. Of course, change is inevitable. Good luck youngsters!

I used to pay over $600/mth just for myself with Anthem.. I went to Kaiser Permanente and have never been happier $352 mo. They freeze all of my precancerous spots for $40. I used to pay dermatologists thousand of dollars to do the same thing.

I have PCIP
That is the health plan for prexisting conditions. To qualify, you need to have been truned down for health insurwancr and have been without for 6 months. I paid $350 a month with a $2000 deductible. However, the in-network fees are reduced somewhat. My hubby becomes eligible for medicare in January. Can't wait. We pay close to $500 for his health insurance plan.

Hard to say what would be reasonable for u without knowing age and medical History. There are many new options with the healthcare reform a d mire coming in 2014. You may want to Look at HSA options for self employed.

I used to struggle with huge deductibles after paying huge premiums all year long. I now have Medicare and a supplemental policy. Much less, thank God, as I have been in the ER twice this year for flu related illnesses. pneumonia, and staff infection, costing thousands of dollars I would not have been able to afford. There are some great things that kick in at 65.
I was at El Pollo Loco the other day and asked for the senior discount on my chicken bowl, $.70 off. I gotta remember to ask for these things. Forget about it often.
