I walked in the door and got blown away by the cat stench
UGH! Borrowers had four cats. Hey, I have four cats too, but I GUARANTEE you that my house does not smell. I honestly had trouble breathing at first.

Re: I was going to make a bet last week......Bet you could
too do a 15 minute closing....If you were holding your breath and trying not to talk because of the cat and dog urin smell was so think you were afraid to breath or talk. I decided that the next time... I am going me take out a wet towelett. I am going to use it to sheld my nose and mouth. Im just going to say I have a cold and I am trying not to spred my germs. I am going to talk and breath through it. How do people live in that kinda cr*p?

I know exactly what that stench is. Isn't it amazing how some people live? You just have to wonder how many diseases there are in some of these places and their exposure to whatever diseases exist in those places. You reminded me of one where I pulled up to the house and there was trash outside that seemed to be there for years. When they opened the door the stench was horrible and I did tell them I wasn't going to do the closing there. If they wanted to sign it would be at the local fast food place. They never did sign and I also reported the incident to the town Health Department in that there were 3 children who were filthy dirty living in that. I ended up discovering the person who lived there was a health department inspector. Amazing!

Have never tried it, but understand it helps if you put a little Vicks directly below nostrils. I think some coroner's offices offer that to their visitors.
(or maybe I'm just watching too many TV crime shows) LOL

vicks is the standard police "db" (dead body) stench-diminisher, but I am told not all that much. I did walk into a residence where, I swear, the animal urine smell made my eyes water. If you use the vick's, you'll at least have a distraction.

I walked in to a home a few years ago that had 40 cats! Now you would think this lady would have asked me on the phone if I was allergic? No she waited until I came to the door..then suddenly stopped me and asked if I was allergic..When I said No she said what about snakes? Told her as long as they werent crawling on me I was ok..Walked in and of course it was smelly but the huge cages all about the room were open and snakes BIG snakes were half in and half out of them..The cats were all about the place off the ground..maybe to keep away from the snakes.
I was out of there in a flash..
