NC Notaries...NC now attorney-only?

I just read on LinkedIn that within the past two weeks North Carolina has become an attorney-only state? Any info on this? I've requested further info to try to verify but thought I'd throw it out there..

Well, she p/m'd me...she didn't know..

and this poster elsewhere indicated they'd been told it just happened a couple weeks ago.

I've not gotten an answer from that poster about where they heard it and whether or not it's a reliable source. Carol is checking into it too. I also notice that someone posted about this on the numbers site some time ago - but there continued to be posts from notaries in NC about doing signings as late as one week ago. So if it IS new legislation, it's certainly not being publicized very strongly. Maybe newly passed but not effective yet?

NC notaries - be careful out there.
