Non Payment

I am a newbie, I was called on March 25th to do a signing, she was frantic because she was becoming a grandmother within the next few hours , I moved some things around
and told her I could do it.
Long story short I sent the invoice the same day as I mailed the docs back.
I have not heard from her, no reply to my email of phone call.
If they pay within 2 weeks fine just say so.
What should I do ?
any suggestions ?
thanks in advance for your help.

Were the payment terms listed on your confirmation? The super awesome companies pay same week, some twice per month, some 30 days, some 45 days, some 15th day on month following the month of the closing. They are all different. I personally wouldn't be stressing after only two weeks.

Also check signing central to see what the history is. I wouldn't panic just yet...unless your fellow notaries say you should.

This is not unusual.

1. Check signing central to see what you can expect.
2. Send the invoice again, just in case they "didn't see it".
3. Call and ask if they got the invoice.

Re: Non Payment then if you're lucky you'll get

an email like this when I inquired on 3/25 (I did the signing 2/20)

"There was an error in our system which did not kick it to accounting like it should have. We have gotten that taken care of. It is now in the accounting department. You should receive payment in 7 to 14 days. Please let me know if this does not happen. I apologize for this inconvenience."

Then I got this on Fri...

"If you do not receive within the 14 days please let me know. That way I can get it taken care of asap for you. I do not see there being an issue now but I would rather make for sure that you receive payment as soon as possible. "

An exercise in patience.

This sounds like she might have taken one from another

notary who farms out work. I hope she clarifies. However, it's already a problem if she didn't get a confirmation--has no proof of anything included fee that was agreed to. ;-(

Re: This sounds like she might have taken one from another

Hrrmmm....maybe not so much farming out as the one who called was the original notary on the deal and "was becoming a grandmother in a few hours" and had to find someone to cover for her. If she didn't clear it with hiring party, title or whoever gets docs back, sees invoice and asks "who the h** is this?"....no idea

Also depending on what type of signing, which is unclear.
