She said ALL DAY LONG!
Not a fairy tale. Noticed notary at shipping center, shipping Docs like me. I was shipping my early morning, in at 7 A.M out at 7:45 A.M. $185.00 investment property refi....yes 90 pages. Anyway asked if she was a notary and the reply was yes. I told her I was too. She said she wasn't a regular notary she was a "signing Agent". She told me she worked for mortgage connect. I asked her how much did she make? Her reply was $70.00 a loan, ALL DAY LONG! She said she did 6 -7 a day!
$@&&% #&$@ &$@*$ I give up...... Just wait until they advertise their equipment for sale.

Don't you just hate that! Of course, they're busy--
keeping the lowballers in biz. It's such a shame that they just don't know better. You can also imagine what kind of work they're getting if she's doing 6-7 day.

That's ridiculous! Only consolation is that they won't be
around long at those prices. I can't believe anyone would be do RM for $75. :-(

Maybe they are sitting in their home office
not driving anywhere, cleaning house, taking care of children etc between appts and not stressing over late docs. There are a few of those here.

I give up!
If people are "accustom to working hard to make money, instead of smarter to make money I am not qualified to help the.
I guess making $420.00 a day to some people is a good thing no matter what it takes. I'm serious and I understand.

Re: I give up!
If I was guaranteed 6-7 a day, I would take it for the volume. Hell, I worked my ass off waiting tables making <$100.00 per day. $420-$490.00 per day is excellent money, and anyone is a fool NOT to take it= $2100.00 per week. Volume is the key though. If it's only 1 once in awhile, no way. You must be in a busy area to be that busy.

Unless that $65 or $70 fee is giving you a profit on
each and every closing, the volume does you no good at all except cost you more to complete the assignments and put you farther into the red.
I don't subscribe to the volume theory...it's smoke and mirrors and, in the end, a loss for the notary.

Re: Unless that $65 or $70 fee is giving you a profit on
I had a call yesterday from a company I had programmed with a special ring tone, indicating it was a low paying company. I didn't answer the phone on purpose. They left a voice message asking "Are you still a mobile notary and if so, we have a signing for you". The signing was 6 days ahead of the call and within 3 miles of where I live. I called them back about 3 hours later, just to see what they were offering. They had a refinance, involving a trust, edocs, and fax backs for $70. They said they had already found a notary to take the assignment. But they wanted to know if they could add me to their notary list. They promised me the "first call in my area" and "volume", if I would take $70. per signing. I told them my fees started at $XXX, and would be more for a trust and fax backs. They responded, "Oh, well we pay $70." It occurred to me that the question they asked me about "Are you still a mobile notary?" is probably because many of the notaries who have worked for them at $70 a signing are now out of business. Thus, they're looking for new people to fill the ranks.

I'm with you Linda, there is no volume in this business, that a misnomer. Each loan is different number of pages, different location to drive, diff number of bwr (sig), etc You work so hard you don't even have time to spend what you make. IMO and when you say no, they move on to someone else.

Well, danged! I got a better story than that! I had 8 signings today...average $150 a piece.
Shucks! I even got a call from Lola at ANS for a signing in SB today. I said I couldn't do it. Your company can't pay me enough and you take too long to pay. How long you been working for ANS, Lola, you must be new. She says, why yes, I am new.
Well, Lola, I would pick up my handbag and leave now because you don't work for a very nice company. They have a horrible reputation out there for not paying well and not paying on time.
Lola hung up.
I don't think that was her real name, though.
It just really pays to work for great companies to make a profit these days.

Re: She said ALL DAY LONG! - Easy Money
Well as long as the signings were all at the same (very close < 5mi) location, nothing to print, pick up, drop off, nor fax back. Appointments need to be back to back. And, guaranteed payment on "volume" number regardless of no-show, cancellation, reschedules. Oh, and free coffee and healthy snacks - maybe a donut in the morning!
eeks, did I just describe having a JOB!
