Someone recruiting mobile notaries on Craigslist.
I heard from someone who had a friend who applied. I checked it out & can't tell if it's a ss or individual setting up for subcontracting. If you read this you will understand where the lowball offers are coming from. Ad is offering $50+ for signings. Couldn't create a link, so it's Craigslist--Hampton Roads, VA--then search "mobile notary". It always gets me with these ads. It doesn't cost anything, and people can remain anonymous. I personally don't use the site--it's a haven for scammers, IMO.

There is always someone trying to shortcut their way to success....Caveat emptor.

What exactly is the $50?
The $50 could be my travel and then we go $XXX from there.

Sounds like a subcontractor...stay away. We have enough hands in the pot and scrape the bottom of the barrel as is without having a notary call you because they are too busy to take it. Would never work anyway, they assign to the #1 notary and your stamp and signature does not match their papers, you both lose your work and client. If not $50.00 is a joke unless it is 1-2 sheets of paper.

Your are so, so right. Craigslist it a creepy website. A woman got kill when she responded to a baby sitting job posted. She was shot and killed by a 19 years male at the address posted in the ad. It a sleazy site as far as I am concerned.
Also there are other murder stories from Craigslist Ads. Three men responded and showed up at a farm for work. As they came up this hill at the farm they were shot one by one. It was on the news. Do not answer or give any information on this site. That person is up to no good trying to do business on the cheap. You get what you pay for in the longer run.

I would never advertise anything on Craigslist. If I need office assistance, I have plenty of friends with degrees up the kazoo who can't find work, and I pay them handsomely to come in and straighten out my chaos at month end. Craigslist.org is a can of worms. About eight years ago, I was looking for a ranch hand to live in a trailer and take care of odds and ends in exchange for free space rent. The guy that responded had the same name of someone I almost purchased 500 acres from in Ojai, CA. Turned out he was the son of man who got away with murdering his aunt and uncle over a period of three years for overmedicating them, and getting them to sign over their RE holdings to him while he was in the process. He went underground, back to Russia, never stood trial. I ran like the devil from this.
There are many, many unscrupulous people out there, lurking about waiting for opportunities to take advantage of someone who is alone and needs money, or services.
