I have no problem with text messages. I have never received one from a company in reference to signing. My business card for notary work says "call or text". I have had notary customers text but it isn't common.

I didn't respond because the fee, which I failed to mention said, "non-negotiable." I'm glad to know that some companies will text, so at least I now know that it is ok. Thanks all.

I've had one company's scheduler to set up things by text, and it was fine with me.

Yes, they do follow up with confirmation and documents through email.

Re: Do they follow up with an email confirmation?
I do not like it. I prefer a phone call. If I am driving, I can answer, but will not text and drive. Get more details through a call, and seems the professional way of doing business.

I don't respond to text for work,...it's tacky. The is a Notary here posing as a SS, i think is something like "bestnotary" that I final text back to stop #@&% texting me!

I don't mind a text directly to me, mass texting an order
Does. I no longer reply to those. At some point people will get tired of responding quickly to find that the job was filled. That's how I figured out it was mass texting.

I have not used text messaging to accept an assignment. I have used text messaging to complete a notary transaction (tracking number, Fedex or UPS, signing complete). I agree I can accept a phone call via blue tooth, but not by text when driving.

imho, mass texting a job is just abusive
A dozen people are text-messaged. Costs 'em time and money to check it out. Only one will get the job, but a lot of notaries are jumping thru hoops just so it's super-convenient for the assigning co. Further, I doubt that a text message has all the details needed for a notary to accurately quote a fee or figure if the fee offered is acceptable. At least, that's the way it would work for me if I accepted text messages.
