Funny my husband and I had this discussion last night. At first I was mad about receiving in, then I realized, if it were my child that was missing I would want as many people out looking for her as possible. Mixed emotions.

Re: They just put this on your phone automatically????
I don't know about California, but Vermont just implemented a system that allows both Amber Alerts and messages for the Emergency Alert System to be sent out to an area, probably about the size of a town. I've only received a few alerts. I received an Amber Alert and one or two severe weather warnings. They don't do the less serious weather events like severe thunderstorms. I think they only do things like tornado and flood warnings.
I have a signing tomorrow in the same town as a nuclear power plant; I really hope my phone stays quiet.

Should be Nationwide if it isn't already
The first hours are critical in finding a missing child. Looks like this system has been in place for sometime so it doesn't sound like its being abused with too many alerts. CA is so big, I wonder if they could target a radius of some sort, like 200 miles on a rolling basis as the clock ticks.

This thread, he's with James. He said he owns his phone and no ONE has the right to expect him to receive calls or texts at will. James, he said you are a republican.
