Volume promised and ALWAYS under delivered.
Many companies will state they will provide you with a volume of signings. That's great to hear, but truly unrealistic. They can only call you when there are signings in the area and still there is never any guarantee.
Sorry you are experiencing this issue.

"Volume" signings always come from low balling companies
Besides that, that is not a formula that works with this type of business anyway.

Flow chart of a loan:
For all those new signing agents -- and even some veterans who believe the volume hypothesis -- I've attempted to come up with a little (simplified) flow chart so you can visualize and come to your own conclusions about whether a SS can REALISTICALLY promise/control how many signings they can give any one notary each week/month:
1. Borrower applies for loan with a loan officer (loan officer may/may not be bank employee); 2. Loan officer presents application to bank/lender; 3. Upon approval by lender (after going through several clearance procedures), loan is sent to title company; 4. With instructions from lender, title company prepares all documents including HUD-1; 5. Title company sends signing to signing service; 6. Signing service sends signing to notary public
Borrower --> Loan officer --> Lender --> Title company --> Signing service --> Notary Public
This is a bit over-simplified. For instance, the end of the road for the loan is not with the NP. Once signed, the loan goes back to TC who will keep part of the package and send part to lender. Lender will fund. TC will disburse and have some of the docs recorded.
The life of a loan averages about 2-3 months ....

Re: Flow chart of a loan: I like it but added also
Borrower --> Loan officer --> Lender --> Title company --> Signing service --> Notary Public
TC Employee moon-lighting as SS
Notary posing as SS --> Notary Public
Notary posing as TC Employee --> Notary Public

Re: Flow chart of a loan:
Please be advised that there are no ‘economies of scale’ in the service business. As NSA’s our costs are virtually the same on each individual signing, i.e. 10 signings, cost ten times what 1 signing costs (averaged). But you all know that right? JMO

Quick glance at SC would have answered your question ....
... BEFORE you took jobs from the lowest of the low SSs.
My main observation about your post besides the fact you got suckered with promises of "volume" is that since you chose to work for table scraps ($75) you're really not out that much. So that should make you feel a little better. True, you'll now have to absorb the loss you incurred for materials (paper, toner, computer, use of car, etc. plus the fact you gave away your time), but you were never actually going to make any money anyway (i.e. earn a profit) at the fee you took.
Of course, you didn't ask me for my observation; you asked if other people were getting ripped off, and SC would have revealed that immediately. DMN is half a star off the lowest rating possible. You know what you have to do Lin: shape up, wise up, stop dealing with the worst of the worst, read this board about how to conduct your business and stop dragging yourself down to the level of the biggest cheat/scumbag SSs out there.

The best thing about this post is it can be used as a
example to other's when they are promised "volume". I certain think your post (msg#) should be enter in the comment section of S/C
