DocPros, Inc., Murrieta, CA
Had a call from them yesterday for a refi. Call came in at 1:31 pm and signing was scheduled for 4:00 pm same day. I asked if docs were available. She said no, usually they have to procure notary and then they get docs. Told her I could do it if I could have docs within a 1/2 hour. She then got all huffy/puffy saying she couldn't promise that and it would be better if she called another notary because if she assigned it to me and I didn't have docs within the 1/2 hour I would cancel on them. <<she rattled all that off just like I wrote it ... in one long breath>> I very politely and with a smile said, "okay, thanks for calling!"
We hadn't even gotten to the fee part. I have never cancelled out on them. I think the only time I cancelled a signing is when my son-in-law died unexpectedly last year and I rushed to be with my daughter ... and, I gave that TC the name and number to another notary closer to signing location. I'll give this scheduler the benefit of a doubt. She's probably feeling stressed out due to work being slow and she may not be too sure of her job ...........

I have a soft spot for DocPros.... they were the ones who gave me my first loan jobs and they have always been pleasant to talk with. BUT, I haven't done anything for them in ages because they never can met my fee and they usually call for jobs with less than 4 hours notice.

Took myself off their list after working many years with them. The girls that are doing the scheduling are rude and can care less about the way their presenting themselves on behalf of Doc Pros. Their going to loose a lot more notaries if they continue on with the attitudes. I wouldn't doubt if Doc Pros closes shop soon!

First and foremost, I'm sorry to hear about your son-in-law, as I was not aware.
DocPros was one of my favorite SSs a few year ago or so. The fees were okay, signing time was flexible, and documents were sent in a timely manner. However; after a few bounce checks and an attitude, It was no longer beneficial for my business; hence, I let them go.
I'm told that their fees have since decreased and documents are delayed more often than not.

Oh, I wasn't going to say anything, but I have posted to SC about my experience. I think the check has cleared, but not totally sure. 4 mos. late, had to chase my money, didn't sign check, did reissue. Deposited 19th. If it doesn't go through, I will post again.

Will keep all my fingers, toes, eyes and legs crossed that the check clears.

Funny, I have never had a problem with DocPros. They have tried to lowball me. but have met my fee. Only once were docs late. I've never had an attitude from any scheduler. I'll keep working with them.

Thank you, Alz.
Worked with DP 5 times in 2012. Of those 5 invoices, 1 fee was $50 for a print fee (large package); of the remaining 4 invoices, none were under $135. If I recall, I had to remind them for each payment. And, yes, docs are usually last minute.

I've done several jobs for them recently, they're always very nice to me. They don't pay well, and pay very late. I THINK it's a month after the end of the month with the signing....but I could be wrong....I can't keep them all straight.
The docs do come in very late as well.
I got my first signing today where the docs actually came today for a signing tomorrow! Whoohoo!

Be care, Eric. You're still new enough to be taken in by
some of these cos. DocPros does pay, but you might have to chase your money for mos. When I was starting out, I couldn't afford to be so picky about who I took work from. Through the years I've worked for the G/B/U, and now only work for select cos. that don't hassle me & pay promptly. Be sure to check Signing Central when you accept some of these jobs. ;-)

Be sure and also search the forum as these comments won't make the few characters allowed in SC. The info needs to be cross-referenced, by you.

Eric .... they don't pay very well .....
because *you* don't demand a decent fee. Yoli just posted each of her loan signings with them was $135. It's highly unlikely you'll get that amount ... and I can guarantee that you will have to chase your $$ no matter what the fee.
DP plays the game of holding onto your check until you call. They've been doing this for years, and they know we know and we know they know etc. It's just the way it is. Also, it's likely that since you're on the low end of pay, you never will be able to work yourself up. Particularly since it appears their fees are lower than ever.
Many many years ago I worked with DP - they'd call me every single day, often 2-3 times a day. They paid $90 and wouldn't budge. Finally, I put my foot down and said my fee was $100 minimum. But they'd argue with me every time! So I said goodbye. I had too many other jobs that paid way better than they did to continue to mess with them.
Moral of this story, Eric, is learn from my mistakes and don't accept a low fee .... because you might be stuck with it forever ... and what good is that?
Couple of good things about DP is that they were for the most part very nice, and they would automatically add $25 for a POA signing! Who else does that? BTW: Amanda K, owner of Accurate, used to work for them!

This co. was great a few years ago when the market was
hot. Something changed & they pay lower fees & had to chase my money. I haven't worked for them in a long time. I wouldn't let it bother me that they got huffy with you. I'm sure it isn't easy for them to get anyone to take work from them.

Once upon a time they were a great company, but no longer. They are over staffed now that the "volume" has dropped. I never had the experience of a rude scheduler, but I do know that the owner had a great following of wonderful clients, and I'm sure that has changed now.
BTW, title/escrow companies are cinching their belts now, and many EOs are doing their own signings. Fewer signings for outside notaries, I'm finding.
DocPros hired Miss A. After a few months Miss A. had enough knowledge to go open her own SS. Now it appears that biz is pretty nonfunctioning, and nonpaying, so it survived not even a year, August 2, 2012 was the date of the first comment about ANS.
Sign of the times. If a company doesn't have a strong infrastructure, the ability to withstand business ebbs and flows, they won't last. It will be interesting to see where we are by the end of the year, if not sooner. I think a lot of low/slow, non paying, companies will be squeezed out of biz.

DocPros used to be a decent company, although always on the
low side. Then one day after a somewhat challenging signing - they stiffed me! I believe docs were EXTREMELY late (as opposed to juste late or very late) & borrowers weren't happy about that. After being stiffed, they had the nerve to call me a few times, but I always said I was busy (it was a new scheduler) - I don't work for free!.
