Fax Number

Good morning, I had applied for a fax number about a week ago and a number was assigned to me, but when I go to the fax logo, it stating that my number is not activated yet that I have to wait until next month to get another number since I had accepted the one number. I'm not understanding how that had happen. Can anyone enlighten m.e on what I need to do.
