SHE WAS SO MAD SHE SCREAM AT ME AND BASICLY TOLD ME TO F OFF.

SO I KNOW SHE SENT A UGLY EMAIL. DOES ANYONE HAVE INFO ON HOW I CAN GET OFF A BLOCKED BANK LIST???

THANKS!!!

As a California notary you should know you don't need to see the POA, as we can't certify capacity, so that one's on you.The second one with no proper ID, you were right about.

I doubt there is a "block" list. She is just trying to

scare you. But..her department probably won't use you anymore. That's the way it goes sometimes, unfortunately. You should have known about the POA. That was a huge no-no. I woldn't have been too happy either if I were her.

Thanks everyone for your help. I do know that I dont have to see the POA the issue was that tilie had not approved the POA.

You've confused me a little with the comment that title had not approved the use of a POA. Did you call title directly from the table? If title told you to call it off, I would have put the LO on the phone with the title rep ... then it's between those two. I don't personally run into that many POA signings, and I'm in IL so your CA rules may vary, but usually title requires the original POA (or sometimes a copy) returned with the signed docs. I truly doubt I would take anyone's word for it that they have POA for someone else without at least seeing a copy of it, just to satisfy it all in my own mind.

Title has to approve the POA before you ever get

to the table. If title had not approved that POA you wouldn't have been there.

unless the POA was brought up at last minute without title knowledge?

Re: Title has to approve the POA before you ever get

THEY DIDNT KNOW I WAS THIER TO SIGN HUSBAND AND WIFE. WIFE SAYS HUSBAND IN CHINA SHE HAS POA. I CALLED TITLE THEY SAID NO ONE HAD ADVISE THEM OF POA. TOLD ME CANCLE SIGNING. SO YES I LEFT BECUSE TITLE HAD NEVER APPROVED POA OR EVEN NEW ANYTHING RE A POA.

Agree with the other posters.

Eunice: Please study our CA notary Handbook -- forwards and backwards. CA notaries canNOT certify capacity. Therefore, we don't review POA. Bad on you. Insofar as the inadequate ID, you were correct. If you truly believe that BofA LO placed you on a do-not-use list, you might consider contacting that same LO and apologizing for your blunder and tactfully explain why you were not able to use a credit card as an ID. Have a copy of the Handbook and show that LO the acceptable ID sections. You may also consider apologizing to whoever hired you for those 2 jobs.

It's very bizarre ...

... that you would take it upon yourself, a mere notary, to cancel a loan signing because "they did not have a copy or original POA." Unless the lender told you to collect the original or make a certified copy at the signing, then you were waaaaay out of line. Really, to hang up a loan, leave borrowers up in the air and a LO without a commission over some bogus requirement.... Yikes!

By the second signing, the LO was probably so mad at you that she would have screamed at you no matter what, even though you were definitely in the right then.

Instead of focusing all your energy on how to get back in their good graces, do what Yoli posted. Use your energy to learn your stuff and work your way back by exhibiting you know what you're doing and can be relied on to make proper judgments. Then, apologize, as Yoli said, and say you would appreciate it if she might give you another chance. I doubt there's a "list," but I don't doubt she wrote an e-mail about you saying to never use you again for any of her signings.

BTW: Did you consider using CIWs for the second job if at all possible? I generally refuse to use CIWs in most cases but for someone who had absolutely no ID whatsoever, that might have been a perfectly good reason.

Re: It's very bizarre ...

I can't argue with GOLDGIRL for California notaries. I hope anyone reading who sends packages to other states realizes that some states, like VT, does want notaries to look at the POA. Of course, it's very superficial, because it's just some plain paper out of a laser printer with some signatures and maybe a stamp on it, but it's something.

As others have said, it's probably a list kept by the tc, so you could consider sending them a copy of the pages outlining the ID requirements for our state, explaining why you couldn't accept the ID she presented. [Did you consider Credible Witnesses, though?] Up to you, but you could also consider letting them know that you've since found out that we're not required to see a copy of the actual POA when notarizing someone signing as AIF.

And two more things... I heartily agree with whomever said to re-study your notary handbook. We are responsible to know everything in there. Until you've done this and you know your state notary law cold, your best bet might be to focus on getting your skills up to speed instead of worrying about how to get back on any list. The best way to not have to worry about things like this is to know your stuff and get it right the first time.

Finally, I recommend you turn off the CAPS lock. It's hard to read, so on an internet forum, it's considered shouting and rude to type in all caps. I'm just sayin'... Wink

Re: Excellent suggestions, Janet.

Eunice, somewhere on your keyboard (or whatever it is you're typing on) there's a key that says something like "CAPS LOCK". When you hit it, it makes everything you type come out in Capital letters. If you hit it again, it will turn off, so you can type normally. (On mine, there's a light that goes on when it's activated.)

I'm guessing you did this by accident or aren't familiar with it, because all your typing is showing up that way - and it's very hard on the eyes to read.
