There really is no "standard fee" you are an independent contractor and need to set your own fee.
This is an old article, but it will give you an idea:
http://www.asnnotary.org/img/Practical%20Advice%20on%20Witness%20Only%20Loan%20Closer%20Fees.pdf
Then other than the suggestions in the article you need to figure in your printer costs (toner and paper) and your time. The article was written before the majority of companies used e-docs.

Welcome, Henry. Before you start posting here, it's a good
idea to read through the Rules & Guidelines, at the top of this page. There's also an orange "search" button for researching topics. You're obviously very new. Take some time & read, read, read. Know your state's notary laws backwards & forwards. If you're getting into the loan signing part of this biz, business has slowed for even the most experienced, so getting started will be tough right now. Good luck. ;-)

That is hard to answer Henry. The signing business is slow right now and it depends on your area. Do a search on the Find a Notary section ( button at top of this page) and put in your zipcode to see how many signing agents there are in your area.

Re: New Notary
And while you're waiting for calls , Henry, take the time to research this business. A good place to start is read Message 33325, from beginning to end. Lots of currently relevant material there.

Re: New Notary
Some people who have been doing loan signings for as long as you've been in the mortgage business are asking the same question you are about getting more business... As goes the mortgage biz, so goes the loan signing biz - as you would expect.
It's going to take lots of work. But once you do get some calls, you want to be sure you know your stuff backwards and forwards - first as a notary, then as a loan signer - so that you'll help yourself get repeat business.

I'd tread very carefully, Henry
as being "new in here getting more business" may get you Fired right off the bat.
Mortgage lending, as you know takes marketing (lots of it). Earning $$$ doing notary work takes marketing - and patience. No shortcuts.
Start with your profile here. Create one. Have it Proofread! Nothing worse than creating an impression of carelessness, particularly in this line of work where attention to DETAIL is paramount.
Spend time reading the messages suggested and searching; when you come across something you don't understand, bring it here and help is on the way
Welcome (you will be in the Learning Library for quite a while, but you're not alone)!

I've only been doing loan signings since March. I signed up with maybe a dozen companies at first and only one or two actually called. But I think I got my first call within a couple of weeks.
You need to get into the "signing central" section and start contacting the companies there. Make sure you read the reviews...they can be very helpful. I've steered clear of a number of companies based on the reviews.
