Printing !!@#$%
I keep getting docs that my printer won't print when I have it on all the right settings. I change it to "fit" and it works fine but you can tell they are not right. I have one now that it says the size of the document is 8.27 x 11.69. So what setting do I need to set it on to get it to print correctly? I have a Brother 5370DWT dual tray. Thanks for any help...looked in the search area but must not be using the correct key word.

Mine always works just by using 'choose paper size by .pdf'
I guess the companies send me docs scanned at the right size. I have the same printer.
So you already tried "fit to paper size" and "letter" for that one? That's all I can think of. Maybe call Brother and see what they say and then let us know?

That is A4-size paper which is used in Europe. (I think it's used in Japan too.) So of course if you force it to print on US letter-size paper, it isn't going to look quite right.

Did not know that, thanks for the info. Was it scanned wrong? It is not just 1 set of docs it has been a quite a few of late.

I'm not an authority on technology but
Was once told to check the print preview for the size and if its wrong it means they scanned wrong. Can you print letter or legal or are none of the pages printing correctly. Is the problem with the same company docs or different ones?

You can force it to print correctly by fiddling with your printer settings. Such as choosing "fit to print" or "shrink to print" and then set your printer to print only on legal or letter, which means you have to uncheck the "choose paper source by pdf size" option and select either letter or legal size paper in the advanced print settings. Sometimes it also helps if you choose the "auto-rotate and center" option.

STOP cursing---this has been addressed before.
Some pages are scanned wrong and the 5370 doesn't like it and stops. Hit the GO button and it will do it manually. Annoying as all get out, as it makes you do something instead of just spitting out the printed page.
I got that tip here, BTW. I don't know that a quick search would have found it right away though.

Re: Here you go Paula
Thanks for all the help. That is what I have been doing is just getting it to "fit". It has happened twice with Title Source and tonight I have 2 for ServiceLink in the morning and one set printed fine but the next one did not. That was the reason for my question, it seems to be happening a lot....and you know we get those annoying instructions on how to set our printers. But at page 41 the remainder of the package was wrong the paper size.
BTW did not think to put in my printer name in the search....duh!

I have this model. If your trays are set up right, you can just put legal size paper in the manual tray and it will print on the tray automatically without having to press the go button for each page.

Happened to me today too.
I have a new printer the Brother 6180 and went to print a packet and two of the pages wouldn't print. I took both paper trays out several times, made sure the paper was stacked right in the trays, looked at the settings. Still same problem, would print the first page and then I would get an error. I brought up the documents and saw that pages 1-4 were letter size paper. I then thought, I am going to try and print the rest of the packet, it worked. The page 3-4, I used my old printer and it worked beautifully. I guess that printer wasn't reading those two pages. Do need to figure out "why"?

Open your manual feed tray when it stops and
insert several legal size sheets. It will automatically print the odd sizes, then resume printing from your other trays. Keeps everything in order and no need to mess with settings or anything else.

tried this only to find the manual feed makes loud cracking
sounds! also, it turned out to be most of the document was scanned with the odd size so I ended up printing all on legal and unchecking choose by pdf. I am wondering if this is a Brother's issue? So far this has only happened with Chase docs for me.

Re: tried this only to find the manual feed makes loud cracking
I don't have a Brother printer, so I can't address that issue, but it seems to me that it's all about how the documents get scanned. I also periodically get an odd-sized scanned page and have to get creative about getting it to print. I wish I knew if it was an equipment problem or user problem with the scanning, but I have my suspicions...

I get that sometime on LSI docs too. You have to identify which page(s) it is and just uncheck your "choose by pdf size" box so it will automatically print on letter sized paper.

Sometime you need to go into the advance setting & check to print as IMAGE.

Also have problems with chase and I have the brother
6180 DWT. I use the auxiliary tray which is my work around for the odd pages. Wonder if this is a chase issue or brother issue? Didn't someone post the same problem with an HP???

Is the printer still underwarranty?
I have a Brother HL-5470DW with dual trays. I recently had trouble with the PDF sorter not working properly, even though the settings were correct. I called Brother's customer service and they walked me through the settings...and it still wasn't working. Customer service concluded the machine was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced with a new machine. Since it was under warranty, they sent me a factory "refurbished" machine and told me to send my defective machine back to them. The refurbished machine works fine.
