Tax free days - are you buying?
Just saw a segment on the TV news about tax free days in conjunction with back to school buying and in the segment they mentioned no taxes on certain purchases, such as electronics (buying a $3500 laptop and not having to pay tax). Apparently the "sale" is today and tomorrow.
Do you live in a state that has tax free days and are you considering any big purchases for your business to take advantage of it?

Not me...there's always a way to make up that "giveaway tax". The profit is still there. They are trying to get people into their stores to shop. They will buy other things. The merchants still have to pay the tax. Not enough incentive for me to go shopping. Year end savings are the best! Models that are being replaced with current latest and greatest are good buys yearend.

Most times you can buy items at a better savings when on sale or research the net for cost( no tax, free shipping)
The example you have given 3500 laptop, I would hope non of us would spend that much on something on its way out tech wise.
If you can get other discounts (employee, military, etc) and item is on sale it maybe worth the jump.

Discounts in Florida for laptops, desktops and tablets is $750.00 or less. Most school supplies are less than $15.00. Maybe each state is different. Anyway to save money is a great Thing!

All retailers seem to capitalize on that here--extends to
major appliances & even cars. It's kind of like the advertising word "free". There really is no such thing--it's built into the price of the item somewhere. I'm not in the market for any major appliances, but would probably buy a pc if I were in the market. It's really all about the "back to school" marketing blitz. Purchases for college are a major market.

Re: All retailers seem to capitalize on that here-
I purchased an iPad from Walmart, I got a $50 gift card and plus I saved$53 in taxes so it was worth the buy for me.

What on earth does a $3500 laptop do? Go out and complete the signing for you?
