I would never give any settlement services a credit card #, there is no reason for them to have it.

Yes they are, and if the transaction does not close, you are out the fee, printing, travel and other incurred costs.
Doesn't sound very attractive to me!! This is ANS' client. No wonder they can't pay their notaries, they're not getting paid either.

When we accept an assignment, we front the cost (and put at risk) our time, printing costs and gas. That's as far as I go on financing assignment-related work costs up front. Whenever I've been asked to pay for shipping up front, then get reimbursed, I advise them that it is against my company policy to do that. Most of the time, they've managed to come up with a shipping label. If they can't do that (or provide an account number), I'm just as happy to let that business go.

I was just contacted by them directly yesterday. I used to do a few here and there for them through a Signing Service. I must say I was always paid. While I was reading through the contract I noticed the fees and was asked about my cc number. That turned me off a bit. If a closing cancels, I'd at least like to receive a print fee. Most likely I already turned down another assignment for that time. Just not feeling the whole cc thing, especially since I feel that I'm assuming the up front risk anyway.

A fool & their money are soon parted. Or, is that a notary &
...their money are soon parted? Hard to distinguish between the two, sometimes...based upon posts I read here, anyway. LOL. JMHO
