Well, well, well

Looks like the one star Accurate National Signings, formerly of Lake Elsinore and Wildomar, CA, has pulled up stakes and disappeared into the night. This major blight on the loan signing industry has disconnected all its phones, closed its Web site, and presumably, absconded with umpteen unpaid notary fees. Of course, Accurate was absconding fees big time when they were in business. At least now, they won't have to listen to whiney notaries calling for their pay. Whew!

In any case, the hubby of the "accounts manager" of the now deceased Accurate has just been granted a CA notary commission. See Marian and 101's messages of yesterday about this strange turn of events. Incidentally, both posts, curiously, went completely unnoticed? ignored? ... I'm guessing because nobody wants to "get involved" when things get rough around here but still wans to reap any rewards ... but that aside, my hat's off to them both ... esp. 101 who did a herculean job to rid our business of deserving scourges like Accurate. Still, I'd pay special attention to Marian's post Msg #480217 because hubby may now be the face of a new SS with a new name but same old no-pay policies. He might set this up after they get back from their latest ocean cruise paid for with .. .well, you know ....your fees!

I'm not sure that the site is actually down:

http://www.accuratenationalsignings.com/

It's still working for me and I did a check of other servers...it's definitely still up and running. And when I try that phone number it goes to a voice mail where they identify themselves. Thing is, a LOT of people have been saying (here and elsewhere) that in the last 2-3 weeks, they can't get anyone to answer messages or emails.

But yeah... the fact that Amanda's husband was just issued a commission is interesting.

I'm hoping that some of their clients took note of the fact that the company they hired was being run by somebody on probation for identity theft until just a couple months ago. I just know if I were one of those borrowers and learned this, I'd be FURIOUS. To be fair, her record has now been expunged after she completed probation. But, record expungement is not what a lot of people think it is. While, technically she's no longer convicted of the crimes, she still is ineligible to be a notary in CA and the information will always show up on background checks.

For those unaware - in CA, if you've been convicted of certain misdemeanors, you must wait at least 5 years beyond the completion of your sentence or probation before a commission can be issued and that INCLUDES anything that may have been expunged. In the private sector, the expungement will help her, though it will likely still show up on some background checks. But for other things, like anything that involves public or state licensure, there's a different set of criteria they are allowed to use.

Hmmmm ... strange

I tried both numbers from their two listings in SC and both were disconnected. Then, I clicked on the link in SC to their Web site, which said no longer exists .... maybe the ones you have are new, and Accurate never updated them in SC.

As it should! Does not make sense whatsoever that she will be able to engage in this type of work again, period. What are they thinking!

What are they thinking?!

They are probably thinking that any fines they MIGHT (but, more likely won't) be assessed will be more than offset by the fees they collect from unwary TC's for signing orders they schedule with their unwitting volunteers (read NSA's). JMHO

Re: What are they thinking!: rolomia, that was a rhetorical

question; hence not using a question mark at the end of my statement. I, also, was not referring to
the criminal act (or criminal in this case) when I made that statement. I was speaking of the "enablers; the powers that be," for allowing a person who has committed identity theft have another opportunity at being a notary in the future and especially a "NSA" who has far more information than what is on a person's ID.

Sorry, if I was not clear on that.....your theory, however, as to what they are possibly up to was a good one!

ANS info in SC is inaccurate

From the beginning there have been huge INACCURACIES. Looks like the website in their Lake Elsinore listing is wrong, so you get an error, website no longer exists. Phone number is wrong, says it's disconnected. I guess they still exist, but don't answer their phones. Maybe they are just cruisin' til loan originations/signings pick up again.

There are plenty of notaries across the nation who have been burned. Let's see how Jason resurrects Accuratenationalsignings.com and turns their stars upward from 1.5 to 5. Wouldn't that be awesome? I wonder if his business acumen is stronger than Amanda's. Remains to be seen.

I just hope he's not sharing all his clients' private and confidential information...a major violation of notary public law, and that he secures his seal and his journal, any electronic information about clients from any other person's access.

We all know the notary commission is issued to the individual whose background is checked by the DOJ/FBI, as is any licensure, certification, permitting by city, county, state and federal agencies. It is the individual requesting the approval who is on the hook for best performance and abiding by all laws.

Just as you can't use someone else's law license, contractors' license, etc. Impersonating another individual by using their ID to secure loans, licensure, commission, etc. is absolutely illegal and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

It will be interesting to see how all this unfolds in the coming months.
