Why it's important to list in SC- interesting numbers
Why is it important to list your comments, concerns, rants, and raves in Signing Central? Because it is a fantastic resource to rate and review companies. Doing my monthly marketing review to make sure my name is out to as many highly rated TC/SS as possible that listed in SC, and as a result of my spreadsheet the following stats became apparent. I'm going to date this listing and print it out so I have an easy reference to keep with me.
Here goes. Out of the 788 listings in SC:
4 listings are rated as 5.0 48 listings are rated as 4.5 94 listings are rated as 4.0 109 listings are rated as 3.5 105 listings are rated as 3.0 66 listings are rated as 2.5 47 listings are rated as 2.0 69 listings are rated as 1.5 47 listings are rated as 1.0
AND DRUM ROLL PLEASE
199 listings have no rating.
These listings are showing up to me with a notation of "unavailable". One out of every 4 listings. Now some of these may legitimately be out of business (and the discussion whether to delete them out of SC is one for another post, another thread) but some may simply not be rated. I just thought the numbers were interesting and wanted to share.

Good job, Linda. Thanks for your diligence. I'm cutting and pasting and saving to excel SS.
I think it would be fun to review this at the end of the year and see where the numbers are then! Betcha the 3, 2, 1 categories grow! And of course those that are unavailable could very well end up to be the companies who are lowballing or non paying companies.
Should we take bets?
So if you look at the top four cagegories, around 255, the bottom echelon far out numbers the good guys. Doesn't bode well for the future of signing companies does it? Because right now I'm aware of at least two companies who:
Are not paying; Will not pay in the future; Are not answering their phones; Are not answering their emails; Have blocked their after hours phone numbers;
And most likely are collecting all the completed signing fees from escrow and spending it all on themselves and have no intention of paying their notaries, ever.

101livescan ~
Care to elaborate on "because right now I'm aware of at least two companies who" etc., etc.???
I know I'd like to know which companies to avoid. Maybe others here on NotRot would also like to be wary of those negative companies.
TIA!!

Re: 101livescan ~ 1.5 star companies
If they're already rated 1.5 stars, that's good enough for me. Personally, I don't accept assignments from those companies. I sincerely hope others wouldn't either.
In a perfect world ...!! From some of the posts here sometimes, however, we know that's not the case.

maybe this is better list in SC- numbers 2010 -2012
I just completed reviewing S/C looking for patterns and trying to make rhyme or reason out of the information on it. Because its sloooooow I thought, someone out there could probably tell us what this all means. A couple of questions I was trying to answer is, what is the likelihood, we would receive a call from a deadbeat company on this list and is there a correlation between that company and the amount they offer? Also, do the higher ranking companies also the ones that pay more? Heres some info to work with . 2012 2011 2010
