Fass has gone to a system where you

have to check their web site to see if there are any new closings available in your area. So, if you check it periodically you will probably miss out as closings will pop up and be taken in minutes. The alternative is to keep your eyes glued to the site from early morning to late evening - sounds like a lot of effort so that you get the chance to scramble for a closing. They used to be my number 1. I'm thinking this business is in it's "dead horse" phase and I'm not sure I want to beat it any longer.

Are u saying they are not using a phone call with schedulers anymore? I get notifications that a signing is available in my area but by the time I see it, it is usually taken. I did get a call from a scheduler this week for a signing a mile from me.

Since I am somewhat "new" w/FASS, and live in a very rural area--not many signings yet. From what I read, the signer must have a record of 10 signings w/in 6 mos with a score for errors/or not. Then the signer has access to the "available" signings. But they are probably using schedulers after no one responds to a posted "in your area" signing. There's not that much population in my "area"--their definition is probably 20 mi.

Re: Glad to hear they are still calling. Sitting

on the computer all day will not be acceptable.

I only hear from FASS when the LO has requested my services, since their fees are typically low for my area, but I do get my fee for specific lenders in my area. In order to be a white glove signer with FASS, your fees must match their fee schedule.

Re: Just to test it out, I've been on the

Fass site for 5 hours, refreshing often, and nothing has come up. I refuse to do this every day. If I close for them in the future it will have to be based on them calling. I also let Fass know that I consider the notion that we have nothing better to do with our time but sit on the screen waiting to see what pops up disrespectful to notaries.

Re: Just to test it out,

Howard, I sympathize with you sitting there trying to keep watch for a potential job. It would appear that some companies are under the impression we should be available to them at all times--kinda like an employee?? If only we could be paid to sit and watch for them to issue a potential job to the several of us who work the same area.

But we are generally not sitting at our computers. We're running around doing all kinds of things, even if it's not closings. We are independent contractors for a reason. WE control our time. If they want us to work WITH them, they ought to respect our communication preferences.
