Feel the need to Vent

Skye Closings used to be excellent co to work for. Then they start dropping fees first to 95, then 90 and now today refi, email docs all for the grand total of $80.00. Yup that's right, thought for a minute I misheard her. Hopefully they will never call again. And sad to say after I told her my fee, said she would call back and didn't, so some loser notary took it for that.
I hope they both read this.

I stopped working for them for the same reason. And I know one of their TCs requested me to do their closings in my area. But the regular fee drop had me ignoring their calls.

You are not alone. I ignore their calls as well. They used to pay a decent fee but not anymore. Besides that, payment takes to long and I like a little interest on my short term loan Wink I no longer accept closings from them and take the other SS and title companies closings because they have and still continue to pay my professional fee without hassle.

Ditto. In general, I'm not doing many signings for ss these

days. I don't think the volume of business is warranting the use of ss.

Supply and Demand

There are fewer loans being originated. The SS Companies, even the good ones, still have the same infrastructure, and staff, to pay for, so when the supply of new loans is low, they've got to cut down somewhere. That leaves us taking the shortage, if we choose to.

Nature of the biz, unfortunately.

I've had fewer loans, but better fees for each. I don't choose to make myself crazy with low fee work with the same demands by the scheduler.

Fortunately, I'm seeing more purchase and sales, 1031 exchanges and 5 year arms with the bigger lenders/wealth management companies.

Hang in there. It will be better in 2014 after the first month.

Re: Supply and Demand

I too am really tired of all the lowball offers from them as well as others. I have gotten to the point that if I actually do take somewhat of a lower fee, they are getting less of me. I am not explaining anything. I am not making copies of anything. I am not taking a bunch of babysitting calls making sure I received my docs, making sure I called the borr, making sure I am there, and all that other crap. Less $$ = less of my time and hassle.

I almost feel like answering my phone "Charity Closing Services" when I receive closing request calls from these companies.

I told a scheduler today that if I shave that day, I shave. If not, I don't. If my clothes are dry cleaned or not so be it. I cannot afford to offer the same level of service I have given the last 20 years only to get paid less. It is an insult. Who has to pay for my $70 (can only use synthetic) oil changes? Who has to fill my car up (premium fuel only)? Who has to have my clothes cleaned and buy razors and deodorant, etc.?

I know that may sound extreme, but I am also venting, I guess. Yes, I know that it is my choice to take an assignment or not but these lowball offers are under my skin. Plus they want you to fax back a bunch of crap now on top of that. GRRR!! I feel like just having the local borrowers come to me or meet me halfway to cut down on the fuel expenses. I have been told by the schedulers that it is not their company, but the title companies that are sticking it to us. Whatever!

Bottom line - less pay = less of my time and effort.

I'll get off my soapbox now.
