Giving back this season

I do a good amount of volunteer work throughout the year, but nothing notary wise. Are there organization s that could use volunteer notary work on occasion? Does anyone have any ideas, or ways they give back? I think I've read some profiles that say no charge for veterans, for example.

There are a few ways that I use my notary work as a way to give back..I used to volunteer my services once a month at the senior center..I stopped doing this because I got so busy with loan signing stuff..We do not charge veterans or any military personnel or any police or firemen.

I have a lot of people that are referred to us because of where we live and they come to our home/office and I put out a jar for donations for the month of December and donate that money (plus some) to the food bank...Every little bit helps!

I also give in other ways personally to people when I know of a need..Just my way of helping..

Yes

Places I choose to volunteer notary services are the local library (where I pre-schedule the date and time, and the library lets me post a flyer) and Habitat for Humanity.

I forget about Libraries, we have a wonderful one downtown, I should check with them. Senior Centers, on a regular basis would be great, too. I wonder about Vet. Halls, also.

Thanks!

What I call the "Free Library Bonus"

In addition to being a wonderful community servce, no-charge library notarizations will be of great financial benefit TO YOU as well.
You won't believe the amount of additional and residual GNW you will acquire.

While you may dole out a couple of hours of free notarizations, you will have abundant free advertising.

Have plenty of flyers/price lists and/or business cards on hand and ready to offer each client.
Be sure your flyers/price lists and business cards state you are a MOBILE notary.

I restrict my services to exclude LWTs for these events, and schedule these outside
Additionally, some churches/church bulletins, local newspapers and other press media may provide you with FREE advertising for your event, if you ask.
Look in your local paper in the community section under "Events".
(Tip: make sure your advertising media outlines ID requirements, and also have on hand blank affs and jurats: I have found that I need them...don't forget credible witness affs, either, if your state allows for these).

and schedule these outside ...(oops)

of the free library setting, but that is my personal decision. If you want to, you can do whatever you want within the confines of your state's laws.

Re: and schedule these outside

Thank you, that sounds great. As much as my original goal was to be a NSA, I really enjoy GNW, it's calming in comparision - and in these settings (library, senior centers, etc) I think it would very rewarding. It's a good point, however, to have cards/fliers on hand as well - in case someone asks.
