Hectic Signing

Had a signing this evening and it happen that not only the borrower was next to me but also her 5 kids coming and going asking for food back and forth, also they were arguing with each other for food , she was a nice lady but boy a signing with 5 kids around not a very easy thing to juggle but I managed.
Than before that had a notarization and no lights in the house all she had was a small kids little lamp and she pulled her car in front of the door by the garage and left the car lights on so we can see to notarize. Glad is over this evening all went well in the end Smile , anyone had this kind of experiences ?

There have been a number of fun threads over the years where people have listed some of their more fun, insane, outlandish or otherwise memorable signings. They cover the gamut, some falling under the category of "you can't make this stuff up"! Unfortunately, I have no idea what subject heading they might have ended up under. Wish I'd kept track of the message numbers. (Maybe someone else has? Any one have the msg # for the classic one from the AZ notary way back when? That's got to be one of the funniest things I've ever read!)

My most bizarre signing - also involving kids, but for a family with only 4 - may have been the one where the parents were conducting a potty training lesson for their triplet boys while we were signing docs. To make things easier on Mom, they each brought their little training potties into the dining room where we were set up. Mom never missed a beat with any of it... 'Course, I didn't either! Wink

The longer you're in this biz, the more stories you'll have to tell... Sometimes I wish I'd kept a journal of some of the unbelievable situations I've found myself in while conducting signings, but no one outside of this business would find it interesting. Wink

@ Janet

You are right Janet the more we are in this buss the more we will encounter. I think we notaries will get to see it all as we go through signing after signing and notarization after notarization as each will be done in a different place with different people,in the end is all rewarding and gives us opportunity to handle whatever might come our waySmile

Hey Christina......I hope you were able to go home after all that and put your feet up and relax.....sounds like quite the exciting day of signings. This has to be one of the most entertaining parts of this board is hearing all the funny stories from some of the notaries about their crazy signings. Janet is correct.....you can't make this stuff up.

I haven't had anything too crazy.......just a few hoarder houses I wish I would have turned around and walked back out of......and a few I actually did. I did a closing once in a super dark pizzeria bar/restaurant and the borrower was a cop and she used her gigantic flashlight so we could see the papers. After the closing she and her parents invited me to stay and have pizza with them. As much as I would have loved to have joined them because I do love pizza, I politely declined their invitation and off to the next closing I went.

I do wish we could find the AZ notary story for everyone to see.....OMG....it was hilarious! I am quite sure that someone has that message saved and will share it with us. Let's put the word out that we are looking for it.

@ PegiT

Hi Pegi, even I wish to see that post from AZ, the only thing I accepted during a signing when was offered was a bottle of water as it has a lid and won't spill and that too rarely.
Usually I just get so cut up in the signing and my focus is there only that I block whatever noises area round me like loud TV or screaming kids, but last night was hard not to get distracted when kids were coming back and forth to ask for food.

I had one the other night in a dance studio. Echoing loudly in the background was someone singing and playing ballet music on a piano. The mother kept interacting with her kids and her students while we signed at a cramped desk. There weren't enough chairs so the father had to stand the whole time.

In addition to that the signing was rushed as we only had half an hour left before the place closed down. Thankfully it was a small doc package!

@JBA/FL wow that was some story

Thank you JBA for finding the story for me, I guess we will all have our own crazy stories to tell but this one really topped everything else.
