Here we go again.
December 2013 Monthly Newsletter In This Issue Meet the FieldChoice Team FieldChoice News Important Updates from Ted Dear Notary, Recently a new set of standards were announced that will impact the entire process of signing loan documents. The initial announcement was made at the Mortgage Bankers Association in October, yet no final date has been set. My intention today is to help you prepare for what we know is going to be required and help you anticipate what is going to happen in the near future. Today: We know today that the six major banks and title companies are requiring your background check be renewed every 12 months. We are strongly encouraging you to complete this by January 1st, 2014, to stay eligible for all signings. Right now the National Notary Association's background check covers all of the new requirements for a background check, so we strongly recommend you use them to renew your background check. The advantage of having a certified NNA background check is that you will be eligible to complete signings for all of the major banks. If you don't have a NNA background check, you may be ineligible to complete signings for certain lenders. We will keep you informed of any changes or if any additional providers become available. Tomorrow: There will be a new official designation for notaries - CSS (Certified Signing Specialist), that will include the NNA background check, but the final requirements have not been finalized yet. It has been inferred that mid-2014 is the target date, but we have yet to hear of a final date. Currently there is not one entity that is eligible to test and provide the CSS designation because the final requirements haven't been sorted out yet. Please know we will inform you as soon as we find out. We want everyone to be on the same playing field and will communicate updates to you as soon as we receive them. The following websites will allow you to see what was announced and allow you to see what is coming to our industry in the near future. I would suggest you look at them in order.

We will keep you informed as the requirements become available. It's the intention of everyone involved to make sure every notary is informed properly and has time to decide what they want to do. Meet the FieldChoice Team: Danny Yit What is your role at Fieldchoice? I am constantly hammering away at the phone, scheduling signings between notaries and our clients' borrowers. In addition, I ensure that our notaries have everything they need to complete their signings. This means I answer questions about loan documents, scheduled appointments, and lender-specific issues.
What's your favorite part about working at FieldChoice? My favorite part about working at FieldChoice has got to be the atmosphere in the office. You just can't help but love each and every individual here, and it makes the Monday blues not so depressing. In addition to the people here, I love coming across various accents. America is an ethnic melting pot and doing business nationwide makes the cultural permutations infinite.
Tell us a bit about yourself: I was born in Fountain Valley and have always resided in the general Orange County area. In high school, I participated in water polo and swimming. This was short lived when I left sports to pursue an unintentional career at Target and a dead-end attempt at musicianship. One surprising fact that you may be unaware of, as I am always behind a phone, is that I have long hair. I have donated to Locks of Love and the lengthiest my hair has been thus far is 34 inches.
What do you like to do for fun? I try to stimulate my mind in many different ways. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music, particularly the noisiest and most abrasive music while I delve further and further into painting and assembling tabletop miniatures. Aside from that, a lot of my time is spent reading lengthy fantasy and sci-fi series or vicariously experiencing a horrifying life through the works of Bukowski and Ellis. Reading is underrated.
So what are some of your goals for the future? I am currently pursuing a degree in English so that I may teach disgruntled high school seniors with the hope of making an impact on their lives. The English language has strayed too far from perfection; I would like to see the language consist of complete sentences filled with words, as opposed to fragments and acronyms.
