Numbers site can find some other

sucker to pay $504 for the P18 position. That is a 220% increase over last year. Its time for me to see just how much business they really sent my way because I am hoping off of their gravy train. Bye-bye!

He kicked me off his site when I found out his "positions" only represented a SIX Mile radius in a county, not the entire county. When I challenged him, he told my it was his site and he could do what he wanted. I tolf him I didn't work on his plantation...whoosh, I was gone. Free atlast!

I have been telling T/Cs that call me not to use #s site....

and many were surprised when I told them what happened and how inaccurate the #s site is.

Back in April I started doing a search for notaries in and around my home zip code to see where I showed up. I was shocked to find out how inaccurate and how much the numbers site sucked!

When I searched, this is what I found; A zip code adjacent to my home zip (1.8 miles), I didn't even come up in a search of 0-11 miles.

Other adjacent zip codes to my home zip code are 2.4 miles, 3.5 miles, and 3.2 miles away from my home zip code. When searching 0-11 in every adjacent zip code, I did not even show up. Instead, notaries from as far away as 50 miles showed up.

When I searched the zip code I live in, I came up 6th in the list. The first five notaries listed where between 37-48 miles away. I felt frustrated, I felt robbed of my money for a service that was absolutely useless!

I immediately email Jeremy, subject in depth inquiry. Below is the response I received and my final response to Jeremy.

Hi Larry,
The coordinates for our zip system can sometimes be off. It is not a perfect system. Please do not expect it to be perfect. thanks
sincerely,
Jeremy Belmont
manager

My reply 4/30/2013 @ 4:50pm

Jeremy, your coordinates aren't only off, they are grossly off and useless. when someone searches my zip code and my name comes up 6th and the first five are zip codes 37-48 miles away, you have a problem!

The zip code adjacent to mine is 60447, that's 1.8 miles. I am not even showing up on the 0-11 miles in this zip!

Here are some other examples; other adjacent zip codes 60586, only 2.4 miles from me, 60410, 3.5 miles from me, 60431, 3.2 miles from me, I am not listed in the 0-11 miles in any zip code that's adjacent to mine, all zip codes less than 4 miles from my home.

Please tell you are able and can correct this gross issues with the quality of your website.

I await your your reply.

Regards
Larry"

NO reply was ever received from Jeremy and the numbers site.

When I recently received a telephone call from Jeremy asking if I wanted to renew for $260, I reminded him how inaccurate his site was and he got an attitude with me and didn't seem to care. His response was "I shouldn't expect something for nothing!" Needless to say, I didn't feel robbed again and didn't renew.

I have since started a silent campaign against the numbers site, telling all hiring parties that call me how they will be wasting their time with very inaccurate searches. I even use the copy of Jeremy's email to substantiate my feelings. They have been very interested to say the least. Hiring parties do not want to waste their time searching on a site thatcan be inaccurate. I was surprised how may schedulers didn't know about Notary Rotary or even the Coffee site. I have been promoting these other sites! I have at least 4 good size companies that have said they weren't even going to waste their time using the numbers site any longer!

95% of the calls I received for work from the numbers site was for GNW which here in IL pays very little, so the site was really only getting me a little NSA work anyway.

In my humble opinion, Jeremy has a very poor attitude, doesn't care about the notaries and compared to every other site, the numbers site is the absolute worst!

I have been meaning to share this with all of my fellow NSAs and this thread has given me the incentive to do so.

Will every one else that has had a poor experience with the numbers site please share it? Will you also spread the word about the how the site can be very inaccurate when searching for notaries even if it doesn't apply to your zip code?

Re: I have been telling T/Cs that call me not to use #s site....

As I understand it, how you show up is all based on what you pay and therefore what "P" level your listing has. So those who showed up above you probably have a higher number, like P18 vs P6. Those numbers, which are based on a variety of things - mostly how much you pay him - are shown at the very bottom of every listing, so you can check it so see if that's the case. (The "N" is a sequential number, based on how long you've been in the database.) I run into that in the two areas where I advertise, since I'm right on the boundary between two zones in my county. Cha-ching! Frown

But I think Mike's comment below is right on track. Each of us has to decided if it is worth the investment or not based on the return it provides - and whatever other criteria you choose to use.

JMO: Only Suckers Join The Numbers Site!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this site is a scam. Sure I want to pay Jeremy Belmont $508.00 of my hard earned money to be #18 on his list. Make that $900.00 of my hard earned money and he might even let me take the #5 position......yippee skippy! Next week another sucker desperate for business will give Jeremy $901.00 and take my spot in the #5 position forcing me to either shell out more money to stay on the top of his list, or move on down the line. No thanks!

Not true Peg, IMO

I was a member there for 7 years - in top position in my county, admittedly NOT for $500 - I'd never pay that - and for the first 4.5-5 years I got a lot of good clients that found me there. But for the last 2 years or so the amount of work from them dwindled to a point that it isn't worth paying double what I *had* been paying.

I'm no sucker - my listing worked for me for almost 5 years and paid for itself -

It does come down to location and to the number of notaries in an area. Lesser populated areas are different.

Yes. This has been discussed and IMO it's a really bad

business move on his part. The big money days of the "bubble" are over, and more notaries are not renewing their listings (on that site in particular because of the cost).
I have kept mine for now, but grimace every time I renew. I am only renewing 6 mos. at a time now also.

I personally have had some issues with that site and I did renew this last time but I swear Im done..Jeremy is really something else..He emailed me to tell me that he "tweeked my profie" That profile is none of his business..he did call me wanting me to take his Ninja course..if I dared at a cost of course..I dont need to prove anything to him..Im so done but on the same token I fear loosing business so I renewed!

I learned at a seminar years ago..that during a downturn it is not a good idea to stop advertising..but due to Jeremys arrogance I dont think I will be renewing..Nor Rot and the coffee site are the best!

"Im so done but on the same token I fear loosing business so I renewed!"

How much business is that site generating for you? If it's MUCH more than what you pay, it might be a good idea to swallow your pride and renew. But if you're not getting a profit from your listing there, it's time to jettison them.

Show me the money - I'm giving you x, you should give me much more than that in return. He needs to lose the attitude and deliver customers to the people who are paying him for a listing. Isn't that what advertising is all about?

I don't know this guy or anything about his web site, but he doesn't sound like someone I would be anxious to do business with.

Re: Yes. This has been discussed and IMO it

Mike, I filed a complaint with the LABB detailing how he works his site , the complaint was accepted and posted and one month later, it disappeared. Hmm

As JanetK outlined, it's based on "P" ratings he assigns...20 down to one, suppose to be per county. When he gets a certain number of notaries signed up (more than 20) he splits the county in two and starts all over again.
IN other words, the person paying around $1,200 for some top in a county now has the top spot in 1/2 the county. Even worse, in very large areas like mine, the top spots belong to "someone" passing themselves off as a SS. They in turn farm out all the GNW, taking between $5 and $20 off the top on GNW. A while back I looked at 75 counties and kept seeing the SAME name(s) popping up. Who, well let's just say his daddy is a bigwig with the XYZ.

I sounds and feels like an auction. You can get outbid for whatever place he promised you were purchasing at the time then you get bumped. Kind of like Rod Blogo auctioning off Obama's Senate Seat years ago. It's all about the money. And we don't have any coming in and everyone is yelling "Hey you have to buy this now and this in a month and this and this." We still have the usual staples of gas, paper and toner.

I had a chuckle last night..

Got a call from a SS for a signing today at 4 (which I declined) - first words were "were found you <<over there>>" -

I laughed cuz I did not renew this year and took a free basic listing - which means if you REALLY found me there JUST last night, even though I've worked for you before, you had to work your way clear to the bottom of the list before you called me - and either no one took your calls or everyone else said no too.

My fee for my listing doubled this year - and this call last night was the first time in over a year I'd heard "we found you there"... no rewards reaped from that listing at all in almost 2 years.

I get very little work from them, but then again

I only pay $99; had a free listing for the first few years.

I renewed several months ago. Jeremy called me and told me to fill in the zip codes (3-4?). I asked which of the 42 zip codes in the city of Seattle show I put in??? The closest zips limit me to about a 5- 7 mile radius; Seattle is 85 square miles; the county is 2,307 sq miles. As a rule I don't go further than about 20 miles.

This method of staking out territory and being at the top of the heap doesn't work well here. I don't know, maybe if you pay more you get to list more zip codes, but I'm unwilling to pay more.
