Brother 6180 cuts off bottom of legal pages

Just got a Brother 6180DWT. Love it, except I've noticed that sometimes it prints all the legal pages in the package without the bottom couple of inches. Reprinting the page without changing any settings results in a properly printed page. Anybody else have this problem, and if so, how did you solve it?

It may be a matter that your printer is not currently recognizing your tray 2 (assuming that's the legal size paper tray). Or, it may be a matter that you haven't formatted your printing preferences.

Go to "printer properties", go to "accessories" and check to see that both tray 1 and tray 2 are recognized in their appointed sizes and "default source" should be "auto select" and "apply."

Next, go to "printing preferences". "Paper Sources" should be at First Page "auto select" and Other Pages "same as first" and "apply."

Good luck!

Yep.

The tray auto detect will be in Properties/Accessories.

In Preferences/Basic Select make sure you have Letter Size selected. In the Advanced tab/ Fit to paper size: Letter.

I keep a test pdf on my desktop for times like these. I have a letter and legal size in it to test print if I’m having problems. I have had to change settings on my 6180 to accommodate a poor scanning job and forget my original settings. Hate that.

I will double check my paper tray settings but a little further research indicates that this may be a problem with Adobe X which an update would fix.

Sounds like the printer is trying to print on letter size paper but the printer is pulling from the tray that has legal size paper. Try changing to fit to print and see if it print all text but the size that would fit on letter. If it does, might be in the printer settings. Whatever you find out would be nice to hear back what caused it. Good Luck.

Sharon, I remember hearing about various problems with Adobe X here on Not Rot. I am using Adobe 9.5 successfully with no problems. If doc prints successfully by itself, I'm guessing it is not a printer issue but a software issue.
