Fed Ex Shipments
I had my first closing Saturday evening, and everything went well. I came home and faxed back everything, and on Sunday morning I dropped the Fed Ex package off for pick up at my local Office Depot. This was supposed to be overnighted on Monday night. Now, the signing service says the package wasn't shipped. I checked the tracking number myself, and there is no information for it. I will check with Office Depot when they open and see if it still happens to be there. I don't really know what else I can do about it. Has this ever happened to any of you, and what did you do about it?

Yes, it just happened to me. I was on the receiving end of a overnight package, I checked the tracking and it showed never leaving the departure state....even after it was delivered to me.

I'm hoping whoever picked it up just somehow didn't scan the label and it gets there on time.

Not just FedEx... Unfortunately, by trial & error, you will discover that some drop-off locations are more reliable than others. For me, the dropboxes located on 'lawyer's row' in my small town are always picked up while the manned in-store and other dropbox locations are iffy.

I had that happen once to me, from that point on I only drop my packages off at FEDEX or UPS.

Amen! I'm lucky enough to have 5 FedEx and 2 UPS stores close to me. I only drop packages at these locations, not Office Depot or similar type arrangements (or drop boxes). I always get a receipt when I drop my packages.

I don't know about your area, but here OD only
handles UPS. I'm fortunate & have many sources for shipping. You might try to find a local pack & ship store that offers both Fedex & UPS services. If no one at the store scanned in the pkg. it won't show up for tracking.

It happened to me very recently. Best bet is get on the phone and speak to a live person at FedEx customer service. They are usually very accomodating and can even give you numbers to the local depot where it should have gone after you dropped it. Start sooner rather than later so you have documentation that you have initiated a search.

Kind of odd that these things happen. Recently I got a call from a TC 2 days after a package was dropped. Thay said they checked on it and no tracking number was available. They later called and said the package was received earlier that day. However, no tracking number ever came up on the Fedex site. Hope they get your package. Also, in your case, remember that the package may not have been picked up until Monday evening.

I always drop at a manned location and I always get a scanned receipt. Never had a problem in the last 5 1/2 years.

It would be nice if we all lived in areas where
this is possible. The only alternative if you are not in an area where it can be scanned at dropoff is to have fedex pick it up at your location. Is the receiver willing to pay for that? Hmmm.

Had that happen to me once, now I dont mess with drop boxes anymore, i dont trust them. i go straight to fed ex office or ups office and I hand it off to agent, watch him scan it and get a receipt. Once I get the receipt..my end of the deal is done, and its out of my control. I covered my butt with the receipt.

I'm glad your "first closing" went well for you," other than this issue. I hope that package shows up today and ends the problem. Did you say that OD gave you a tracking receipt or not???
I am like others on this site who go out of my way to take my packages to a manned center where I can watch it be scanned and get a receipt. I figure I have done my job and it is out of my hands at that point. I have never, knock on wood, had an issue to date.

Our local FedEx office has switched from Tyvek to heavy plastic soft Paks. They seem extremely strong and durable. However, my top or bottom page ALWAYS sticks to the inside of the plastic. Static electricity, I guess. A few weeks ago I had to do a return visit to a signer because the top page in the stack was a grant deed. Title Co emptied the envelope on Friday, took out the trash, and then discovered on Monday that the top page was missing. Now I use a blank piece of paper at the beginning and end of the stack, or at the very least, make sure the top and bottom pages are not signature pagers.

Don't you use binder clips? They would all stay together and you wouldn't have to worry about it sticking to the inside of the package.

If you dropped it on Sunday, is there pickup on Sunday, or
will it be picked up on Monday for delivery on Tuesday? I don't know of any locations that have a pickup on Sunday. Once FedEx performs their pickup at Office Depot, then it will be scanned and in the system.
I drop off at a manned location; however, the pickup isn't until 5:00 p.m., so when I drop it off at 09:00 there is no status with FedEx until at 5:00 p.m.
You should be fine.

Uhm, hmmm, oops. Today's Tuesday, right?
I am embarrassed. I thought it was Monday, which is how/why I wrote the previous post. My apologies.

Call Fed Ex and get them to meet you at the drop box and see if the driver picked up at that location. A driver was logging that he was picking up at a box and hadn't been there for a week it turned out when I met with a Fed Ex person at the box, there was my missing package that I dropped 4 days earlier. Driver got fired and I only use drop boxes in front of the courthouses or government buildings any more.

Also,
They keep those boxes full of supplies.

Sometimes you have to be careful dropping Fed Ex stuff off at any location other then an actual Fed Ex location. I have had this issue as well. I even found out that Fed Ex doesn't pick up everyday from Non Fed Ex locations. Not a fan of having to use Fed Ex

I love FedEx - and the place where I drop the packages off
I use The Mailbox Store - she does it all - FedEx, UPS, USPS...her service is outstanding.
My only other alternative would be to drive 45 miles to Kinkos, which isn't going to happen. There are no FedEx or UPS drop boxes in my town and they won't pick up from me either.
