Help please!
I am doing my first set of faxbacks, and it just says "mortgage." What form is that? Everything else is clearly labeled. Of course, I can't reach anyone phone. TIA

Any question why we deem almost all signing agent certifications to be worthless?
This is from the OP's profile:
"Hi, as a Notary Public and Certified Loan-Signing Agent"

Shan, just ignore him..
Howard, I've said this before and I'll say it again. IMO, you don't belong here on this forum. We don't need your sarcasm or your useless advice.
According to you, you've worn so many hats in your lifetime you have to be over 100 years old. That or you've bombed every carreer move you've ever made which would explain your vast 'experience'.
So what! if this is the first time she has ever seen the word 'mortgage'. Obviously, CA has a Deed of Trust. This is the place for NOTARIES to ask questions and develop their skills. Not a place for SS owners to come here and berate people. Do you see any other SS here?? We know some of them are reading but they have the professionalism as hiring parties to stay in the background.
You just don't get it, do you??

PMN's track record shows arrogance and misinformation.
Here is a short list of your wrong input and arrogance.
Wrong answer: Msg #454679 Wrong answer: Msg #447146 Continuing arrogance: Msg #444013 (Thread) More arrogance: Msg #439722 (Thread)
And, yes...we do remember that you are an economist. (Do we ever!)
Please consider either becoming informed on notary laws or finding an economist board to post on where your arrogance and unkindness will be appreciated. Perhaps you should find an SS board where you can gritch with other signing service owners about notaries.

I'm Disappointed that Howard Would Post that and I commend
all the rest of you for sticking up for her and helping her out. I hope this is a new trend in NOT bashing newbies or people for asking questions. What happened to the, there are no stupid questions rule? Before the google days, that's how we learned.

Re: I'm Disappointed that Howard Would Post that and I commend
CarolF/NC,
Read my post again as you misread it the first time around.
I did not bash the newbie. Unlike many people in this forum, I have never bashed a newbie and never will. Everyone must begin to learn somewhere.
My post was concise and to the point: Most certification courses are worthless.
How can any training group or organization certify someone as a loan doc signing agent when they do not know what instrument the "mortgage" is? Okay, she's in CA and we use DOT, but is not the point. How basic is the understanding of the what is the recordable document in a loan doc package?
That is why we will only give credibility to certifications from Notary2Pro.com as Carol Ray, with the help of James Dawson, put together the only comprehensive loan doc signing training program that we have ever seen. (I know Chrissey Ladd has a training course, but I am not all that familiar with it, but I do know Chrissey knows what she is doing and is very knowledgeable.) You have to pass the Notary2Pro test at 90% before you can become certified. It seem to me everyone else just gives training by the clock (as it is time driven rather than understanding the work driven) and if you paid them you get certified whether you understand the information or not. No I have no financial or business connection to Carol Ray or her company other than I like her graduates and their understanding of the process and the paperwork.

Very interesting.
The other night, I received a PM that there was a deal between a signing service and a training course provider to convince said course notary grads to take $90 fees from the signing service.
No names mentioned by the notary who PMd me, but this post makes that PM seem a little more interesting.

Re: Very interesting.
Doesn't it though? I was just going to PM you about this.....along with a couple of others who have been having ongoing discussions about this since someone was posting here about their blog and their attempt to rally everyone about the flag, etc. I heard there were a couple of SS alignments....this appears reasonable.

Re: Clarification..
Clarification my friend Carol, ask me to take a look at her course (I wasn't the only one) and then take the test and give her my honest opinion on what I thought. That I did and she was very grateful.
She also allowed me to post some of my art work on her website so our relationship goes way beyond her notary training endeavors, I consider her a very good friend.

Howard, I stand corrected and apologize, but my comment was
only that I was disappointed as I had not seen you bash a newbie previously, and the rest of the post was more a comment that I was glad to see people helping a new person as opposed to bashing them.

Carol, don't be so quick to second-guess yourself.
If I, Donna, James, Stoli, and you all saw it as a questionable remark, it's probably a questionable remark.
He is the one who should be apologizing.
This is a pattern.

No - it was an underhanded, sly comment
about the correlation of "certified" and dimwittedness. It was bashing, and he needs to mind his manners a bit better.

I just received an email from Howard Blum and his
little Verizon phone. And I quote:
"And in my humble opinion you are an idiot"
I do note that either he has an excellent spell checker or he can do that on his own.
Thanks, Howard Blum, Notary Pro. You are a jewel also....dirty, rough, as found in nature, and are a COWARD.

Anyone that thinks they know a person's intentions and objective from a post without ever having spoken with them, know them or worked with them is indeed a very foolish person as you have shown with your subversion of the ratings system giving us a 1-star having never worked with us or even been offered an assignment by us.
Coward?
Seriously?
Where the heck did that come from?
A coward is one that makes anonymous posts to a negative rating for a company having never worked with them.

Oh, Howard - I have my confirmation right in front of me,
-along with my notes. Subject: Signing of Seller's package in Orlando, dated 6/19/12 @7:16 PM. The signing was 6-20-12, 11am, Orlando, FL 32817. I did receive payment on 7-10-12 and deposited that same day. So, I will adjust the pay time on my review of your company and you, but I am leaving the email that you sent to me as a "beware" to anyone else that if they have any type of disagreement with you that this is along the lines of what they can expect to find in their business email.
So cowardly of you to send an email from your phone to my business account. Are you so threatened by a woman that you have to resort to name calling, and not even in the same place as the disagreement. I guess you just didn't want others, in the ranks of your sycophants, to know you could be anything but benign and gushing towards them.
As for knowing your intentions and objectives from a post: perhaps you should write more plainly. But, you see, I was just going by the pattern you have established here of being imperious towards others, especially women.
One thing I do not do is lie - there is too much to remember when one lies it is just easier to tell the truth. I still stand by my statement that you vilified the OP in a rather backhanded manner. I do think that this forum is really not a place for you to be on a Saturday night - perhaps not at all.

Funny you should mention that. I had never noticed it, but a man PMd me about that yesterday and brought it to my attention. I hadn't really paid any attention to that until this latest nonsense.

What you know as a deed of trust is a mortgage in other states. There are differences between the two, but if there is a mortgage in the package it will clearly be labeled as such with bold letters.
Some companies don't make a distinction between the two. If there is nothing in the packet that says "mortgage", but there IS a deed of trust, that's what they want to see.

To add to that...
A generic term that would include both the Deed of Trust and the Mortgage - and is also sometimes used interchangeably - is Security Instrument.

I have seen the terms Deed of Trust, Mortgage and Security Instument used on many certification tests and I would think that if someone had passed this test they would have known what the required document was that they needed to fax..

Thanks to all of you that had positive comments. I just received an email from Howard, he said he wasn't personally attacking me, yet he said to "tone down" my NotRot profile!" Claudine, I did pass my test with 96% and that question wasn't one! Notarysigner, your last comment had me in tears, (shipping label)! ROFL
