Minor frustration with companies waiting until final hours

to call and request a closing. I received two calls last night for closings. One was in New Orleans and the other was in my home city which would have been fantastic to snag both; however, because I was called at 4pm and 5pm respectively for both jobs, I was already booked for the day until 9:30ish pm. Granted my work is a combination of loan signings and GNW, I'm most certainly not cancelling on a constituent I penciled in earlier in the week to help set up a trust for him. I also can't cancel on the lady that requested a provisional custody by mandate, paid ahead of time, and is offering soft-shell crab (it's a small country town, and we all know each other).

The point is, I'd love to take the jobs. I'd love to assist the companies which are calling me. However, with as busy as my schedule can get, it becomes rather complicated trying to accept a job that I have not been informed of until a few hours prior to the job. This strikes at a point I've raised before. Do companies think we just sit at home twiddling our thumbs waiting for the phone to ring? I'm running a business, and I schedule my day with work accordingly. Again, I'd love to help you SSs and TCs out. Help me (perhaps us if this applies to others) help you. Smile

I am trying to think of an answer for you but right now can't think of anything but the soft-shell crab. Smile

Because it is Sunday morning and I am relatively sane right now, I can only believe that the SS and TCs are as frustrated as you getting the last minute orders and having to find a notary to fill them. And hopefully one that won't cost a small fortune and more importantly messed it up. But in a good and perfect world if they do come through they will go high on the list of valuable vendors and hopefully that will flow downward. Unfortunately, there are some SS and TCs to which it will not matter if you walk on water for them. Determining which is which is the key and eases the frustrastion? Maybe not. LOL.

Have a great day. Bet that crab was great.

P.S.

I just want to report back that I am not obvious as sane this morning as I thought I was seeing I just realized it is Saturday and not Sunday. But the good news is that I gained a whole day.

I must have gotten confused thinking about that soft-shell crab.

There will always be last minute business - may be because of someone turning late docs down and now need someone to fill that spot, notary gets sick, and so on.

I think a nice solution would be to let me schedule the time, not preset. I see everything come over for 5, 6 and 7 - and how many times have I heard on the confirmation call that "I don't get off work until 5", "we have plans at 6" and a multitude of other comments like these. That indicates to me that some of these are not really set for the bo's convenience after all. I would sometimes rather hear, "morning hours, afternoon hours or evening" as being the choices. Let me set when I have the docs -

Then again, some are just organized and the docs are ready at noon for the 7pm.

Just so many variables that mess with the equation. So, we roll with the punches.

That's exactly what I mean, Julie! I'd love the flexibility to set the meeting time more than just "It is X:YZ and any deviation from that must be approved by us." With one I have a feeling another notary backed out. The other, I suspect it was complete discombobulation on behalf of the SS or TC. Either way, I'm all in for the company getting me the docs and allowing me to set the time for same day service. I do think some of the companies do not want this for fear a notary may wait until the next day before contacting the BO. With time sensitive docs that's understandable, but that person should not be a notary in my book.
