Owner Affidavit - missing signature line
Newbie alert. I had my very first notary signing and I am freaking out. The owner affidavit looks NOTHING like what all the text books show you. The closing was at 7:00 pm. There was no where for me to sign...what to do?

Sometimes they include a doc called an 'Affidavit' that doesn't need to be notarized. If no Notary Cert., don't add one. For that matter, sometimes Affs have an Ack.; sometimes an Ack. & a Jurat. Do not try to make sense out of it.

Was there an acknowledgement or jurat?
If not you may not need to notarize, however, my Old Republic documents commonly have my signature roll to the top of another page and I won't stick my signature and stamp on that lonely page so I draw a line and sign my name below squeezed in on the first page. Check your personal messages.

This will be the norm, rather than the exception. There are easily dozens of different versions of most documents, with each lender having their own preferences. In fact, if you happen to have a package where the loan originator is planning to sell the loan and they don't yet know to which company, you might see several versions of particular documents within the same package. Over time you'll get the idea down and it won't be that big a deal. "The text books" just give an example of a common version of some docs.

Thank you Janet, I believe that as I go along and gain more experience it will get easier.
