Remember the HP 2430tn?
I hope you are all happy. I am not. My husband open the box near the end of January when I was at a conference in Mexico City. I did not attempt to do anything for about a week, which was just past the 30 day mark. (It had a 90 day warranty). I found out the top tray could not be inserted after I pulled it out. Turns out it was broken inside. Instead of taping the drawers shut for shipping, they left both drawers partially open and filled with packing material. In the fine print it says that after 30 days customer has to pay return shipping. In a pig's eye, I will. Anyhow, my computer guy is taking care of it and assures me that he will see to it that they ship me another one. Ironic isn't it?

I know that. Most likely it was under 30 days. They are telling me that I need to send it back for testing. It doesn't need testing. The eye can plainly see that there is a metal piece hanging down. I even sent them pictures!

Sorry to hear this,
they replaced the first one that they sent me with a new unit and told me to just scrap the first one that was sent. The second one works great and I've already printed over 40 sets of docs with it. I agree, their packing methods leave a lot to be desired, had to get peanuts out of every crevice in the printer. Why did you wait so long to contact the company?

Re: Sorry to hear this,
I am a procrastinator. Website says 90 day warranty. So, after i opened the box, it took me a few days to call the company. I had been sick, etc. I never knew there was a terms of service agreement hidden away (which their rep admitted that hardly anybody ever reads) that says that after 30 days return cost is the customer's responsibility. They wanted it for "testing". Any idiot can see what's wrong with it. I have many options here so, I'll keep you posted. This company is engaged in interstate commerce. Maybe the Texas attorney general would like to hear about this!

Re: Sorry to hear this,
You're kidding right? Because of your procrastination, it is now the fault of the company that you didn't act within 30 days?
Interstate commerce or not, they've gotten a terms of service agreement -- whether people read it or not, is not their responsibility. Personally, I don't think the AG can do a thing about it.

Re: Sorry to hear this,
If it were me, I'd use this as one of my "suck it up" learning experiences. I'd either take my frustration out using a hammer, or make it into a yard ornament/flower pot and place in my front yard -- I might even go so far as to make a sign nearby with the company's name and contact info, advertising the quality of their product.

But you're not me! She agreed with me that nobody reads it. There are economic ways to get them to change their attitudes. That printer was broken in transit because of the way it was packed.

This will be my last post on the subject
Since I deal with attorneys, my curiosity got the best of me and I went and looked at their site. Under Warranties and Returns, it is spelled out the same as you said. They've got their A$$ covered, located in plain sight and there actually isn't any "fine print" at all.

But you're not an attorney. As I said before there are other
ways for me to get satisfaction. If you want to put it in your yard, Carolyn, just pay for the shipping.

The first one I got had a cracked drawer and didn't work. They told me to dump it and sent another unit. Second one did not work they took it back and refunded my money. They told me they had previously had no problems but were experiencing a glut of returns.

The first one I got left large black streaks, very noisy and slow. They sent me a new one. That one also did not work right. I was refunded my money and told to dispose of the 2 printers responsibly. End of story.
