Signing Central- Venting

A lot of these ss companies that have 5 star rating have not so great comments. For example,
slow pay, 90+ days for payment, low fees. Other state that the ss pays fast but they don't mention the anything about the fee.

I am looking for the best of the best signing services here on Notrot. I am less concerned about their payment schedule and more interested in their fees.

Any help would be appreciated because this search can drive you bonkers, lol.

There has been lots of talk about standardizing our rateing of SS and TC.

I thnk notaries just need to be more accurate in their appraisals of SS and tC.

Please define "accurate in their appraisals?" What do you consider "accurate?" What I believe is not what the next person believes. Are you a highly opinionated person who believes "my view is always the right view?" Or is your view "I like to listen to other people before forming an opinion?" This would help to understand your posts better.

Fees vary from State to State from NSA to NSA. What I get paid they might not pay as high say in another state. So knowing the fees of a company is subjective.

As you can see on this site many discussions of fees and some willing to take $65 and some no less than $100 and others are getting $175, $200+. So if someone post they get $200 for a signing DOESNT mean that company is gonna offer you $200.

Well said Toni. And I don't like seeing 5 stars

for companies whose docs are always a mess and don't answer a phone. 5 stars is more than high pay for and quick pay for me and personally I don't care if they take 60 or 90 days to pay as long as everything else is good.

Thinking the same thing.

If someone is not that concerned with when they actually receive payment, if I were an SS, I'd look for them every time I could just so I could hire them today and pay them in 12 months, or even later than that.

Why not, sine they are willing to let me, the SS, keep their money to operate my business, they must have enough to cover all their expenses and overhead (i.e. work for free) and view the money I owe them as "extra" or "mad money" when it actually arrives. Hope I, the SS, do not forget to pay them next year, or that I am still in business myself next year.

Contacted a 4 star signing service via email. Downloaded the agreement form, notary agrees to a fee of $50.00. This is absurd and insulting. 4 to 5 stars should pay $100 and up. I am talking about CA which is a expensive state to live in.

Re: Well said Toni. And I don't like seeing 5 stars

My suggestion, strike through that "$50" and either insert your fee or a note that indicates that you are attaching your current fee schedule and initial the changes (be sure to keep copies for files as well). That is if you are going to sign those "agreements' anyway.

I have seen some of those "$50" signup packages, however when I receive signing request from some of those same companies, they meet my fees of $125+. The only fee number you are concerned with is the one on the the actual confirmation of the order.

Also, watch for any company that has "no sign/no fund = no pay (or highly discounted pay)" type of clauses. I strike those as well. Just a formality as I also send the hiring party my payment terms with my confirmation of receipt of order confirmation.

Just because they have a lowball number in their "agreement", usually a form type of "agreement", that doesn't mean that is what they will actually pay. I think they are counting on some people from the cattle roundups from XYZ to see that an not expect any more than that type of 'beer money" payments. You would be surprised how many people will "start a business" without any business or common sense and are wiling to accept less than what it actually costs to do the job (in just about any business or industry).

The rating system in SC is what notaries rate the company, not what the company rates itself (not supposed to anyway). You have to read the comments and decide for yourself if you want to contact the company to sign up. They may have a 4-5 star rating because they were good for years and have only recently become the lowball, late payers your are seeing in the comment sections. If they are that type of company, their ratings will eventually fall from that 4-5.
