What do to with expired stamps?

Is there a safe way to recycle old/expired stamps?

You're supposed to "destroy" them. What I do is take a razor blade to the rubber one and slash them to bits and then pull it off. Then I toss the ink pad if I can and put the rest, the plastic stuff, in the recycle bin.

The embosser is trickier... that required a hammer.

In the past, I've always been able to peel off the rubber part on the top of the stamp, then cut it up with a good scissors. I've only had an embosser for one commission so far (my first) and I don't remember how I destroyed that. I probably used a hammer, too... Wink

Re: What do to with expired stamps? Recycle

Using a razor, carefully remove all but your name from the rubber stamp.
Cut up all removed printing and throw it out. All that should be left on the rubber stamp is just your name for completing those extremely tedious "print name" sections on docs. At least, that worked with an old address stamp I had.

Great idea Lee. I'd put the rest of the rubber in shredder. n/m

Sorry, on the the Droid. This is the time to take whatever frustrations you have in your life and b rid of them. Put that stamp on the garsge floor and start stomping hard, very, very hard.

I take one of those aim-n-flames and hold it up to the bottom of the stamp just long enough so it melts the information on the rubber. Then throw away. Do this outside!!!
