Wierd confirmation call
Okay so when I call a borrower to confirm I am used to getting affirmitive answers during the conversation like "yes" or a "hi, how are you?" This one yesterday was a first for me.
Me: "Hi, this is Eva. I am the notary assigned to your home refinace closing scheduled for next Monday, the 11th."
Mr. Borrower: "Okay?" (seems annoyed and comes out sounding somewhat slurred and doofus)
Me: "I just want to confirm that the time is set for 12:00..."
Mr. Borrower: interrupts "Okay?"
Me: "and we'll be meeting in your residence at the Town Center?"
Mr. Borrower: "Okay?"
Me: "I will also need to see your current photo ids..."
Mr. Borrower: interrupts "Okay?"
Me: "And you need to make photo copies of them too."
Mr. Borrower: "Okay?"
Last question, which will require a definitive answer:
Me: "So, I've done closings at this location before and I understand that this is a secured building. Will I need to call you so that I can be buzzed in?"
Mr. Borrower: "Okay?" Oops, clears his throat. "Uh, yeah, you can just go to the receptionist desk and she'll let you in."
Um, I'm thinking this is really getting bizarre. The receptionist is on the other side of the locked security doors. How the heck am I supposed to get in? Wave at her? I decided to let this one go and not ask.
Me: (trying to be as chipper as possible "Alright, then I'll see you Monday."
Mr. Borrower: "Okay?" Disconnect.
Guess I'll just figure out how to get in the building on Monday. Okay?
