declined signing
January 30 I turned a signing back by calling the closing coordinator for the signing service. He was "on another line" so I left a detailed voice message cancelling the assignent and explaining my reason
Last night I received a call from the lender asking why I was 1/2 hour late arriving at the signing. I explained that I had cancelled and that I had no documents for the borrower to sign.
Question is what do I do now - Nothing?

Send in an invoice since apparently you did the job, you were just late! (kidding)

Clearly, somebody showed up, right? Whoever did show was late...
I'd tell them they obviously called the wrong notary.

No, no one had showed up. The lender was calling to find out why I was late. Evidently the closing coordinator at Service lInk had not listened to his voice mail and contacted another notary

I don't understand... either somebody was late... or nobody showed at all. Seems to me that there's a difference?
That's what I mean... they assigned it to another notary and it appears THAT notary was late.

No one showed up. Chase was calling to see when I would get there. Service Link did not send us documents, since I had cancelled. Also, they did not asign another notary to do the signing.

OH... I see...they were calling approximately 30 minutes past the appointment time, then? That makes more sense.
The fact that you didn't have the documents is probably enough... clearly somebody dropped the ball on that one, and it wasn't you.

Unless I'm interpreting this incorrectly, you called to declind the signing on January 30, but the date the signing was to have taken place was last night? I'd do nothing further until you hear back from them. You have your notes that documented it. In the future, if possible, back up the phone call with an email so that you have a time stamp on it, maybe? Sounds like you exercised due diligence to me.

" Sounds like you exercised due diligence to me." True-maybe
except no personal contact was made with the SS. When declining or turning back, I would never expect it to be received unless I spoke with someone personally. If I called numerous times and left numerous messages without making contact, I would consider it due diligence. If it was a company I wanted to continue working with, I would go above and beyond to secure my position with them.
Are there email addy's for that SS? That could be another approach I suppose.

Wouldn't the fact that they never sent them docs for the order prove that someone actually received the cancellation message in this case? It sounds like the person that received the message may have been the one that dropped the ball in regards to scheduling the signing with another SA.
Generally speaking, I agree with you about actually speaking with someone and/or sending an email. If I have to cancel a signing after I have already spoken with the BO, I also call them as well to let them know it will not be me showing up.

If they won't answer umpteen calls and emails asking where the docs are, what makes you think we can get in touch with them to cancel?
