Equifax Inc
Got a call from an Atlanta based number which did not come up on SC. Asked usual info: job type, time, day, location.... I know the city he gives cause I fished there with my father as a child. It's 59 minutes away from me. I reply sure I can do that, but it's way outside my standard 30 mile radius so I charge a mileage fee. "So you can do it for $85?" I'm thinking to myself, did I just turn into the Swedish Chef from the Muppets and all he heard was "Herdi Gurdi Sloshen Dee FishFish in der Panensultzen!!"
No, sir I cannot. My standard fee is XXX. "Oh, let me see if i can get that approved." *click*
I google the number and Equifax Inc is what comes up. Not stellar reviews from some websites. A with the BBB even after 2030 closed complaint cases....oh boy..
Let me save you. No, no, you won't get it approved and will not try. You scanned the next name on your list and pushed the call button again.

Avoid them like the plague....they dont pay and low fees are appalling plus they outsource.

Thanks ToniK! So Equifax Inc, from GA is related to Equifax Settlement Services, from PA, listed in SC I take it?

You know, that's too bad ... that they've gone down that low road. Back in 2009 and 2010, I was getting $150 and $200 from them with no issues whatsoever. That was Equifax Settlement in PA.

Guess another one bit the dust .......

That's if the two companies are connected or not. I don't see why they wouldn't be, but I'm not willing to make that claim until I find evidence. The time for Google-fu has arrived. I'll see what I can dig up.

The two companies are the same
Direct from Equifax.com (Equifax Settlement Services' website):
"Equifax is a registered trademark of Equifax Inc., Atlanta, Georgia. All rights reserved."
The link to that information is as follows: http://www.equifax.com/about_equifax/company_profile/en_us
Google-fu services provided free of charge! Now should we add them to SC or update Equifax Settlement Services' listing on SC?

The BBB is not a good indicator. A company can buy its rating - the more they spend, the better the rating.

The girl that works in the office with me was just saying the same thing! If you can buy a BBB rating, what valid or sound purpose does the BBB serve other than a middleman relied on by consumers which is truly a fallacious organization at best?

It has been discussed here before, a couple of years ago. Rather than search here, I googled "bbb ratings scandal" and got more than enough info and sites to visit to keep me busier than I care to be, at least on this subject. Your office mate is correct.

JUST got a call from the 678 area code-Atlanta-to do a refi . The town is fairly close in my rural area; I quoted my best-most-reasonable-can-make-profit fee $xxx; he gave me the "I have to check w supervisor", so I asked what was he allowed to offer, and yes, I was $85. So, I countered with the lowest $xxx & asked him to see if they would approve that lower amt. (which I can still make profit). I could not remember any discussion on Equifax Settlement Svcs, but hey, I have not been on NotRot recently. So, here it is "avoid like the plague" comment, but just now I did not find them in ratings? So, if he doesn't call me back--that's ok! Another FYI for y'all---BEWARE Windows 8 has a "refresh" option for the computer---Don't ever ever use it unless your computer is totally naked w/no your settings or stuff or it's just dead & you are desperate. I should've seen bumper stickers on this topic by now!
