Getting documents to me on time
I have been doing this full time for a bit now, not years but I can see the issues with this job. Title and LO's know that we do this job "on the road" why is it so difficult to get us documents the day before a closing? There have been plenty of times that the documents come for an appointment when I am already out on the road, sometimes I have been forced to print at an Office Supply store, or worse, drive right past the closing location to go back to my office and then back to the appointment.
I cannot travel with a printer, especially in the winter months, the freezing temperatures will ruin my laser printer.
Any suggestions?

If I had appts after that one and it would put me late to all my others. Id tell them I cant do it because docs were not available in time to make the appt and the have either two options 1) I can push that appt back at the end of all my others OR 2) they can reschedule with someone else.
I no longer allow last minute docs to ruin my other appts. Majority of my clients are usually fine with pushing it back if the client is ok with it. Some have actually attempted to find another notary on short notice. It depends on how you want to handle your business.

Give the lady a round of applause.
You are so right Toni. We talk all time about people who by accepting low fees are changing the face of our industry. Well, by accepting some of the other things that are so taken for granted... we will make the photocopies of the IDs; jump through hoops for last minute docs; etc. We are also devaluing ourselves. If we do a courtesy for a good customer or a borrower who "tried" to get a photocopy or is incapacitated in some manner, that is a favor. Something to be appreciated. What I am running into lately is that I quote a fee (from my car) based on the mileage the scheduler tells me. Then I go home and put it into mapquest and guess what it is substantially further. Nice.... This is typical to one company btw. But I have a cure for that in the future.
I guess I went a little off topic. But I just think we all need to stand our ground and if we stick together everyone will get the idea.... Except maybe for those already accepting $60 and willing to take on more for that large fee.

Re: Give the lady a round of applause.
Thanks. Its took me awhile to think like a business owner.
I get that alot. I'l get a call and they say its only 10 miles away? I saw No I need an address. So they give me and addres Ill pop it into google maps and it turns out to be 28 miles away. I think they are taught to say its only 10-15 miles away cuz most of us use mileage as a way to guage fee but I do address to address cuz my zipcode can cover 20 miles of land.
And when they say its 10 miles away, then I go into I need the address. They come back with "want me to put it into mapquest and see the distance?" Sure you can do that but Im gonna still pop it into google maps on my end. Then the truth comes out...another way to try to slash fees. BUt when you are at this for years, you know the tricks. Plus I do this full time. I dont have time for dilly dallying on low fees.

Exactly, Toni!
So, what I also do now if I'm on the road, I let them know the fee I'm quoting covers up to a 15-mile radius and a package of up to 130 pages and that when I get a chance, I'll check with google maps and if the distance they've stated is different, my fee will change. Never had a problem yet.

You know, i was just emailing my cousin that is a notary and loan signer to stand her ground. She told me a SC called and offered 65 for a 110 siging. There is a new agent in my area that i know is the one that is taking the 65 When i see her i will let her have it. We need to unite and stand on our soap box and say no more low fees. lol
