I hate, despise, loathe, abhor, and detest UPS
Several months ago, without ever attempting delivery to me, UPS left a $700-800 refrigerated shipment of insulin at the office of my complex. The office assumes no responsibiity for notifying residents of packages, so it sat there for days and days and days till it spoiled.
Had another shipment to be delivered today. This time, UPS knocks on my door, waits about 25 seconds, leaves an identical shipment sweating at my front door. I opened the door as the deliveryman was walking away. Asked why he would leave a refrigerated shipment outside like that, he says, "Well, I haven't delivered to this address before." I assume that meant that if he had delivered to me before, the shipment would not dare to get warm and spoil.
Did I mention my feelings toward UPS?

Not exonerating UPS, but, if I were you--with that kind of money on the line--I'd talk to a neighbor or the office and get some arrangements made to prevent this from ever happening again. Yikes!
Alternatively, can you put a picnic cooler out by your door with a big black marker sign "UPS deliveries here". I have a cooler permanently standing by my door for UPS/FedEx/USPS deliveries and, hey, so far/so good...but I'm only talking about those rare o/n docs that now have a dry, wind-free place to get parked.

Hugh, so the shipping company did not label the product? What the mess? Or, was it labled and UPS just messed up the church money? As a frequent receipient of medical equipment/medication I am fuming for you!

Contact the med supply company and tell them what's happening. Ask them to require signature confirmation before the item is left.

I feel the same way. They leave things in my bushes (don't know how I saw it), on the porch without knocking or ringing the bell, etc...

Big company. This scenario is wedging you between a rock and a hard place as far as any legal action. This would launch me up like a rocket for all the obvious reasons. i.e. spoilage, timeliness etc.
As long as we are talking about UPS, their main facility here wont issue supplies, such as envelopes, labels and pouches, they tell me I must order them. What a way to serve the public. Oh I know its always been that way too.
