Merritt Services, Inc
I just received an email from them stating: "We have a new closing that is scheduled for xyz...for A:BC time in Anywhere, LA. Are you available to do this closing?"
I love the fact that they send emails! But am I incorrect to assume the initial message is slightly lacking in detail? I replied back with a few questions because I'm certainly not just going to go "SURE!" w/o knowing e-docs, witnesses present, etc... Just, the email request to me is awesome, personally...though I can see how some might not like that approach. I do.

My two cents. If it's a company with whom I already have an established relationship and agreed upon fees, yeah, I think it's great, especially when they're willing to wait a few minutes for a reply. BUT, it's easier for an email to miss getting my immediate attention than for a phone call.
For a company where we've never worked together before, or it's been so infrequent that I don't remember, I want to be able to have a two-way conversation with them where I can ask lots of questions. They've already had the benefit of looking at my profile, but I'm at a disadvantage when they just send a text or email. With an email, though, at least there's usually the name of the company and sometimes a signature line with a link to a website, although that doesn't tell me much of what I want to know about a company. before I work for them.

I'm going to retract all the wonderful stuff I just said about email because that's precisely what just happened. Sent my reply. Job filled. /sigh. Usually I love how fast text and email are. However, having thought this through a bit further, when a company calls me, they get to speak to me directly. When they send out an email which appears to be addressed to me and me alone, it could very well be sent out to an army of notaries waiting to pounce upon the opportunity. (Melodramatic, yes, though I've been known to pounce from time to time...especially when food is involved.)
Then to top it off, I get a call from someone after this ordeal whose number, upon a quick reverse look up, is registered as India....great a re-route service. Refi in the same place Merritt had their closing at the same time. I have no evidence to say it's the same company or a company subbed to another company. But wow, that's odd! Doubt it could have been Merritt as I've read their reviews (good stuff!) and seen they post on here. Something also about a regular named Brenda whom everyone says is good to work for.
As for the call, no I won't do a refi for 90-100. My fees are in my profile; they don't flex...they're not "oh I like you so sure I'll go cheaper."

This company called me on Jan. 10, we worked out the details for a 10 a.m., signing on Jan. 11. Well, I never received confirmation email, let alone docs. At 11:30 a.m., I get a call saying "you were scheduled for a closing!" How can I go when I have no info?? She said I didn't try hard enough. Sorry, but I am not going to hunt you down, on to the next!

You didn't try hard enough? That is so funny. Just can't make this stuff up can we?

Seems to be a trend--more cos. sending email
"cattle calls". I don't like it much. I'm not sitting in front of my computer all day & am not constantly tethered to my smart phone. I can see where it's easier from their end, saves time of multiple phone calls, etc., but I still prefer a phone call. :-)

Re: Don't want to bid against everyone online, no matter
what you state your price is someone will out bid (low ball) you. If we let it go this way the days of $XXX will be over. How long are you going to hold the slot open until they get back to you (if at all) with "sorry charley" that job is assigned (to someone cheaper). If we participate in online low balling we will all loose.

Re: Don't want to bid against everyone online, no matter
We do not send emails to notaries unless we have called and left voice mails and have not heard back from you and we are in hopes you have email on your phone. We also send emails when it is past a reasonable time to call but we are still working and hope to hear back from you in the am.

We only sent you an email as follow up to the voice mail we had already sent you. We do also sent emails when it is too late at night to make phone calls. We just assumed if you were available you would call us back as our email asked and we could cover details.
