Marilyn, I looked at your printer model online, and there is no reason for you to buy a new printer. I have two HP laser Jet printers, both with a single tray on the bottom of the printer. It is adjustable, so that you can fill it with either letter sized or legal sized paper. There is also a drop down tray on the front center panel of the printer, that opens, it is where you can feed in envelopes, in this case, use as your extra tray. I do this: legal size paper in the bottom tray (see the number 2 on the tray-right hand corner) letter size paper in the top drop down tray (see the number 1 on right hand corner?) I keep that top tray open loaded with paper. I set the printer to recongize what is in each tray, and to automatically select the correct size, based on print job. There is no need to buy an extra tray, or a new printer. I have been using both an HP2420d and an HP3005N this same way for years.
