New Notary in St. Louis MO area

I am a new notary that in the St. Louis area that is trying to get my name out there, so to say. I have plenty of experience closing loans, I have worked for a title company for over 13 years now. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get more business?

Jason...start with message #33325 and read, read, read every single post that you can on this board. Some people think that newer folks get run over roughshod, but this is a fast paced, competitive and exacting profession. There is invaluable knowledge to be found here, but it won't be handed to you on a silver platter--you will have to make a good effort to mine the diamonds. Start with a business plan and go from there. Best of luck to you.

Your background sounds great.

If I were you, with that kind of background, I would go to my local courthouse and look at all the mortgages closed over the past year. Pluck the title info from them--you know where to look. You only want the title companies that are outside of your town/county...the national title companies. That way, you can eventually circumvent some of the middlemen (signing services ).

Then, market to those title companies and don't sell yourself short.

You should also sign up with all the four and five star signing services on this website.

And, you should have a fabulous profile on NR. Make sure that it is clear that you are a vet closer.

When you receive a "contract" from SSs, don't sign it right away. Read it. Some say, "you agree not to market to or work for our clients directly." You can search here on NR to find out more about what to do with those.

One note - the local title companies in Tx see NSAs as sucking business away from them b/c they faciliate signings from national, far reaching title companies. Might be so in MO, as well. You are their competition to a degree. Don't waste your time in the beginning with local title companies.

You want to work for companies that are too far for borrowers to go into their offices.

You can peruse the mortgages and find out a lot about which notaries who are doing signings...lots of gold in those hills.

Have business cards made and carry them with you; also

1. Create a profile on this site. You will be surprised how many calls for assignments you will receive if you have a profile right here on Notary Rotary.
2. Look at the tabs above; search Signing Central for companies with I'd say 3 or more stars - read the comments from other Signing Agents - contact these companies and put yourself out there.
Good luck,
Stephanie
