Scanner Drama...Any good suggestions?
I always appreciate the help here on notary rotary, working by myself, it is nice to have a place to connect with other notaries. Anyway, my scanner is on it's last leg. Last night it jammed like crazy and a simple fax back took an hour. So, I'll be putting it out to the trash. Any suggestions on a scanner that is fast, doesn't jam up constantly and of course affordable? I'm probably dreaming here but any feedback would be appreciated!

Im using the brother J430w. It holds about 15-20 docs at a time. No issues. I only paid $69 at Staples when it was on sale.

Well... I always recommend the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500. It's a lifesaver for our business. It's small, folds up nice and neat and is FAST. It's a nice duplex scanner and handles loan packages like ad ream. It's not cheap, but it will pay for itself rather quickly and it comes with the full version of Adobe Acrobat, which allows you to secure PDF files which is becoming more of a requirement now for sending files back (thankfully).

I agree with Marian.
I'm currently using my Brother MFC - bought a used fujitsu scanner on ebay (and fi something or other) - had to send it back as it didn't work.
We had the scansnap where I worked - if I decide to move on from the Brother I don't think I'll consider anything but the Scansnap - AND brand new.

Awesome scanners.
I have one that I put through the ringer and it just keeps on ticking!

No Twain, though...
I just remember this about the Fujitsu...only WIA, right?
Not a deal breaker for notary document handlers, but will not work for doing things like uploading deposits to your bank without TAKING the check to them. At least, mine won't.

The F series scanners are TWAIN compatible
The ScanSnap is not.

ScanSnap 1500
No question ..... if you're serious about your business ..... make the investment and with a full version of Adobe Acrobat (which is over $200 by itself) it's a bargain and will make your life easier.

I bought an Epson Gt-S50. Brother now also makes a
sheet-feed scanner. They all run about the same price as the Fuji, but some of the office supply stores run sales. I'd started price checking online.

Does anyone know the speed of the 1500 and ?
it seems most scanners scan at 29 pages per minute(2 seconds per page) at black and white, 150dpi. What resolution do most of you scan at and have you any idea how fast it scans? I could only find limited information on line. I thought someone with an actual manual or machine may know more. I think that holds 50 sheets if I remember. Is there a problem with the papers exiting the machine getting jammed up in the receiving paper tray?

I scan at 200 dpi
Anything less is difficult to read. 100 page package scans in about 4-5 minutes with Brother MFC 8460N. Mine also holds 50 pages, never had a problem with a jam in the receiving tray, but I remove the scanned pages and stick to 50 in the tray at once.

That's a bid price, no? 2 days left to bid and no bundle (Adobe) included.
After more reading I see they are stuck on Adobe 9 and not updating to X?
Then I came across their latest model just released this month:

ohhh..…I wished I hadn’t seen that.

Adobe Acrobat 9 is my favorite.
It kept the same interface as the previous versions that I was accustom to. Version X is different. I don't care for it. XI is like X. With XI and maybe X, you can turn multiple emails in Outlook into PDFs. That can be useful for some.
