Service Link
I did a NY CEMA over a year ago 2011. Service Link contacted the attorney's office which I did the closing through and is now asking for a new acknowledgement notarized. I emailed the attorney's office back saying that this is unethical and I can not do it without the borrower being in my presence and dating it with the current date. Did I do the right thing?

I probably would have told them to send me the doc (all of it, not just the ack) and I will get with the borrowers and have them acknowledge that they did sign on such and such a date. Then I would notarize with the current date. Any other way is illegal. Also, please make the check payable to....
I am in FL, bo's MUST appear before the notary, but for an ack they only need to say that they signed this particular doc on this particular day.

That's what I told them. They aren't too happy with me right now but I have to do what is right. Thanks Donna!

So you're saying that for some reason, a document didn't get acknowledged during the original appointment, but now Service Link want's an acknowledgement? If so, you are obviously doing the right thing. If it was acknowledged but for some reason Service Link isn't happy with the acknowledgement (not worded the way they want, they lost it, it got smeared, whatever) it's hard to tell if New York would let you correct it without a new appointment with the signer and a new date.
