Website or facial profile photos
If you wish to be taken seriously as a true business person, demonstrate that by posting a professional looking facial photo. A headshot from the shoulders up works, wearing office attire: a blouse/blazer (ladies) and dress shirt/jacket (men). The following photos IME don't demonstrate that your a business person: group photos, vacation photos, wearing ball gowns or tuxes, atheletic wear or pajamas (YES, someone thought it was cute to be in an adult onesie pajamas and bunny slippers), spaghetti strap or sleeveless tops, or family pets. Yes, I love my Lucy (dog) but do not include her in profile photos. Digital cameras and camera phones are sufficient to get a nice photo taken that can be immediately downloaded and added to your NR profile or website. Can use a bed sheet as a backdrop against a wall. Family or friend can take the photo. The great thing about this is that it's FREE and you can take a hundred photos until you get just the one you really like.
Some of these grainy, casual facial profile photos, don't match the wording in your comments...and as the saying goes: A picture is worth a thousand words.

Yep, she is logged in.
Otherwise, she could not be posting.
Logging out, getting the link to the profile, then logging back in used to do it.

The profiles photos were of Jack/AL and Brenda/TX as examples of business-like, professional headshot photos.

I promise that I did not know that (it was me).
Several years ago, I draped a door with blue velvet. I put on a business jacket, etc. Put the timer on and ran to get into the picture. It worked very well. Purchase a piece of all polyester (no wrinke) fabric for $5 at Walmart and you are set.
The fabric really makes a good background.

my brother posted an early shot of Robert Redford
as his fb photo. All who know him understand why--he's a normal looking guy with an enormous sense of humor. So.. I'm thinking....an early me would look good, but I use "mature" a lot in various profiles...just kidding. Good suggestion, and for my 66th this month I will give it a try!

If I recall...the way to make this work is to log out of NR and get the link, post that one.

A bit confused
It seems that your profile shows a skyline of some sort. Are you just suggesting your advice for others or being funny? Or are you pointing out that if you are going to have a picture of yourself, make it a good picture of yourself with nothing else in backround? (ie pets, car, etc).

Not just a "good" photo....a "business-like" photo. My point is: Don't just talk like a business (in comments section of profile) but LOOK like a business (by the photo posted).
Title of OP: "Website or profile F A C I A L photo". Throughout post, spoke of ***facial*** photos. To clarify: I didn't say don't post pictures other than facial photos.

No good deed... etc.
Lisa's comments are good points for newbs.
I guarantee you that if Sylvia was reading, she'd share a profile of a woman who is wearing what can only be described as an American Gladiator costume...or maybe, Wonder Woman.

Are you having a bad day or just looking to spout off whatever comes into your mind first or perhaps just don't have a picture of yourself worth posting? Your posting is a lot less than business like but then again, maybe you just like photos of skylines.

Re: A bit confused
My immediate reaction when I see a photo other than of the agent is to wonder what it is the person does not want me to know. The reaction is uniformly negative. The exception to that is when a company logo or such is posted; that tends to enhance the aura of professionalism. But using such extraneous items as a Marine Corps emblem is a real turnoff; what does that have to do with this profession? Are you going to establish a beachhead at the borrower's dining table?

Re: A bit confused
Some people (me) have never photographed well. My business decision is to not have my photo appear with my profile, at this time anyway.
I have to disagree with you on the Marine Corps emblem used in lieu of a photo. I personally would be driven to give that person my business. There are so many vets coming home with no jobs to go to - if I could help them out in some small way I would do it. The only way i would know they were Marine, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc. is by their emblem in lieu of a picture. Would you think it a "turnoff" if they wore their uniform in the profile picture? Just asking.

Hugh, I respect and agree with you to a point. If, however, they show their military alliance, but their profile verbiage indicates their experience and knowledge in the NSA business, do you still consider this as "no identity"????? Just picking your brain!!! :O)
Are you a vet?

Linda and Brenda, now I know why Yoli...
was taken to the login page. I am currently logged in, I was reading Brenda's post and clicked on the msg. # link which took me to Sylvia's post. I then clicked on the link in Sylvia's post (while still logged in) and that took me to a login page. So I logged in on *that* login page and then I was able to see the photo Sylvia posted.
Confused yet ? <giggle, giggle>

Actually, Lisa, when I click on Brenda's msg #, it takes me to Sylvia's post. When I click on the link in Sylvia's post, it takes me directly to what she wanted us to see. So, her version works (for some reason - the NotRot phantom at work -- woooooo).

Common sense dictates that the pic
or logo should be professional and appropriate. My pet peeve with some profiles is small print and way too wordy. I know if I was looking I don't want to read all that stuff, concise and to the point works for me. I sometimes ask the caller that finds me here why they chose me over others in my counties, the responses are interesting. Just sayin..............

I think the point Lisa was trying to make is if you're
going to have a picture of yourself on a profile or in your advertising, make it a headshot or at least make sure it has a business look to it.
I've seen many photos of folks - one in particular I know of on another site who has a pic with the kids - doesn't look like he's wearing a shirt. To me, that's not a business photo.
I think that's what she's trying to say...and I agree

Re: I think the point Lisa was trying to make is if you're
Linda, here's how her OP started:
"If you wish to be taken seriously as a true business person, demonstrate that by posting a professional looking facial photo. A headshot from the shoulders up works, wearing office attire: a blouse/blazer (ladies) and dress shirt/jacket (men)."
There was no "if you're going to post a picture". That may be what she MEANT, but that's not what she said.
It's good advice and I agree with it, but when you click on her profile there's no photo of her. So i guess the general opinion among those who are questioning her OP (and I was one when I first read it) is "why are you telling me what to do when you don't do it yourself?"
I think you're right - "if you're going to have a photo" is what she was trying to say. It just didn't come across that way to a lot of people.
