What is APN&CSA
Hi all,
Just received my notary commission this week! Funny how all the junkmail started the very day I received my commission....they don't waste any time!
Does anyone know what the Association of Professional Notaries & Certified Signing Agents (APN&CSA)? When I click on the link to their website, it takes me to a redirect link that goes back to notaryclasses (dot) com (which is where I took my class).
But if you fiddle around, you can actually get to a website that offers a membership for $30 a year. When I tried to join, their website kept giving me errors stating that I needed to enter the expiration date of my credit card, even though it was already there. I tried three different browsers and credit cards, all with errors. So I emailed them using their link, and it bounced back with a permanent failure error.

P.S. What organizations should I join, it appears that a lot of people don't like National Notary Association.

Notary Rotary is probably all you need.
There are some others that may help you get a jump start with your marketing on the internet, but eventually IMO, you will find it all right here.

Some of the other sites are also used by individuals who do general notary work (GNW), and that is OK. For those of us who prefer to shy away from GNW, due to such reasons as very low fees allowed within our states, inconvenience, short-notice rush jobs, etc., being on the other sites can be a waste of money and can bring calls we might not want. Most of my calls for refinance signings come from title companies and signing services that find my info on Notary Rotary, or to whom I've done direct marketing. The unwanted calls normally originate when individuals needing quick and cheap work find my information on one of the other sites. Just today, after I decided to NOT renew my membership at another site, I received a call for GNW, to notarize a bill of sale for an automobile. Thanks, but I choose to enjoy my holiday in other ways, and will get back into the swing of completing signings tomorrow. Obviously, I choose to rely almost entirely on signings for title companies and signing services, and seldom agree to GNW. JMHO.

I don’t often do GNW. At $5 per here in CO you can’t make money, and usually will lose money doing this kind of work. Even if they come to me, I find it’s not worth the time. I have been known to do emergency notarizations, but only if it’s a true emergency and I don’t have to go far, or they come to me, and for those I usually don’t charge. I refer a couple a week to my local UPS store.
