What is the difference between an "application signing"

where we go and have just the application signed and having the application signed as part of the closing? Earlier I mentioned being advised not to take application signings and one or more respondents pointed out we do that every time we notarize the loan docs. If it is illegal to get an application signed in one case, why not the other? Maybe we should refuse to get the application signed in our loan docs until this issue is resolved - right!

HSH: The "final" loan app in a loan-signing pkg is entirely different than the "initial" loan app. At that point, the loan app process has been completed and the loan granted. There are manydocs in a loan pkg that are identical to loan app docs that still have to be signed again as part of the actual loan.

I do "application signings', notarize identity affidavit...

Works for me. Some dont have any notarizations at all on the application.
