In the Shenandoah mountains? ARE YOU CRAZY???

That is absurd. I wouldn't do $70 in my own backyard!

Hehe... I have conversations like that with a lot of people.

Just last week, with multiple people wanting me to go to a tiny, stinky little company town on the outskirts of Death Valley.

I always pause and tell them, "Do me a favor. Google DEATH VALLEY and tell me, would YOU drive out there for less than $400?"

Oh yeah, you want me to go out there in the summer? Add $100. No, I'm not kidding.

SOme of them get it, others don't. The ones who usually have no problem footing the bills are the local title and escrow companies who know what I'm dealing with.

I got a call to go to Big Bear, where there is snow on the ground (I don't own chains or have snow driving experience), and they wanted me to go 65 miles one way for $75. That call ended quick.

But But...

It's the Shenandoah mountains, and they're majestic! (/end seller's obnoxious sales pitch). Good for you though. I wouldn't touch it either...and we don't even have mountains here...let alone hills come to think of it. Smile

LOL .. I can't say much; I'm moving back to Duson just as fast as I can get out of this hellhole (Orlando).

And I should say that I grew up in VA in the Blue Ridge mountains on the edge of the Shenandoah valley.

Yeah, but you've got NOLA....

crawfish etouffee, the Montelone Carousel Bar, beignets, Cafe' Montalba, bloody bulls, jazz, Brennan's breakfast buffet...

Re: Yeah, but you've got NOLA....

I'm SRSLY staying away from New Orleans this weekend. WAY too much traffic and WAY too many tourists. My grandmother is old Cajun. Most people saying Laissez les bons temps rouler or asking me, "Do you all really say 'x,y, and z' down here?" makes my blood boil... (Yes we make groceries....get over it) Wink

We stayed at the Monteleone when we were in NO

didn't make it to the Carousel bar though - lucky to have made it anywhere - we got chased out of town by a hurricane (want to say Isidore?) - we were the last Delta flight out!! LOL
