"Is Atlanta East of Reno?"
A question asked in all seriousness by a scheduler today. She asked if I could get docs out for shipping same day. Depends on signing time, and where docs are headed, and your carrier.
1. Carrier is Fedex. OK, Latest drop times in this area are 5:15 and 7:00. Where are the docs going?
"Atlanta" she tells me.
OK, then docs need to be dropped by 5:15 at the ship-center here in town. Everything East of Reno has to be there by 5:30.
"Is Atlanta east of Reno?"
"Yes, I'm afraid it is." I reply.
They'd already missed the boat for having docs out same day by the time they called me. I don't recall the company--sounded like a sandbox I didn't want to play in.

That said, Fedex's flight maps are bizarre. Just try to get stuff to Phoenix from here. It's easier (and faster) to get documents to Baltimore.
I once had to put docs on a Southwest Airlines flight (no, I'm not even joking) to get documents there because Fedex couldn't.

Yeah, but...with FedEx.... geography doesn't always makes much sense.
I had a loan package that was meant to be delivered to Upland, CA (east of Los Angeles) this past Monday. Now, I dropped it off at the hub in Lancaster, CA... about 90 min drive north... on Saturday.
It ended up being flown to Memphis, TN on Saturday night...spent Sunday visiting with the ghost of Elvis before hopping a flight back to Los Angeles for Monday morning delivery.
