Acknowledgement

Is it permissible to staple a notarized acknowledgement to a document or should I continue to paper clip it? I usually don't have hardly any, so have just paper clipped it. But have several in this package and would be easier to staple. I've never ask this question before, so wondering...

I don't recommend it. Instructions usually state NO staples.

That is what I thought. But had to ask. Thanks!

I suppose it depends.

I always staple loose certificates (acknowledgement/jurats) and have never had an issue; however, if instructions state not to staple, then a paper clip is used. In this instance, the document and loose certificate will be put on top of the stack, if the client does not have a problem with reordering the package.

You probably will receive a plethora of responses on this, in fact check out the orange search button for previous discussions.

Re: I suppose it depends.

California requires you to attach loose certificates with staple.

JAM...I think that is best.
