Low Balling Notaries
I would like to thank (NOT) the notaries in my area that are accepting low ball bids for signings. They ruined a perfectly good, on time paying title company. I just found out there are notaries in my area that are accepting $75-80 for full doc refi's, e-docs + fax backs.
You must be living at home with your parents, using their vehicle, their computer/supplies to accept that low-balling offer. You do not realize you are reducing the fees offered to those of us who have to live on what we make. We do not have parents to live off of. We NEED to make a profit.
Again.... THANKS A LOT!!!

Re: Low Balling Notaries - What they fail to realize is that
they're themselves short as well! Most reputable TC's pay $150-$200... & NO faxbacks! SMH!?!?!

I agree, the title companies nickel and dime you. I accepted a few because I was not getting any orders. But I will only accept no less than $80 within a 20 mile radius and I have over 15 years experience in the industry.

Where are the companies that pay $150, because the most I get is $100.

What are you talking about? TC's don't nickel and dime you - it is the SS's.
The reason you don't get more is because you don't think enough of your value. $80 for 20 mi - are you really making money? I think not.

100% True!
"because you (Carol) don't think enough of your value"
If a NSA doesn't value themselves, their own skills, and the service they offer, what makes them think anyone else would ... or even should?

Unfortunately, there are notaries in every area that will
accept low fees. IMO many are part-timers, and to them this is good "extra money". I still get my fee (haven't seen $150 in a long time in this area) and end up working for fewer cos., which is fine with me. I don't have time for the low-ballers, slow-payers, no-payers.

Pt notaries who make
$10-15 an hour on their full time job think $80 for an hour worth of work or even 2 hours is golden.
Then you have folks who say $20-25 an hour is great.

Re: Pt notaries who make
I will only consider $50.00 per hour fees. Legal paper is double price of letter and charge 15.00 for Legal. Have also asked them to split edocs to legal and letter. Fax backs is $20.00 extra, then there is mileage consideration. Last minute deals is $25.00. I don't get all the perks, but I try.

Re: Pt notaries who make
I don't even consider fax backs, extra for all legal, , over-sized packages, extra mileage, dropping at the hub, last minute service fee , late night service fee, etc. to be perks.
There is a cost to us to provide all those things. We're in a service industry and I'm willing to provide extra services happily. I simply cannot and will not eat the cost of these things and pay for them out of my own pocket to accommodate the title companies' and signing services' business plan and bottom line.
We can't get paid for the extras because there are too many notaries giving them away for "free." They're actually paying for them out of their own pocket but don't realize it or care.

You are obviously an attorney, since SC is an attorney-only
state. BTW, legal paper isn't double price here. I buy mine at Costco for about $42/case. I have a dual-tray printer, and find that I'm now using at least double the amt. of letter paper over legal.

He is not an attorney in SC

Don't forget, in SC telephone presence by an attorney
is sufficient to satisfy the requirement. John may be a notary just like us.

Instead of complaining about what others are doing, maybe you should spend more time working on building your own business and marketing your skills. Or just find something else to do to make enough capital for yourself.

I am also faced by the part time signers who will work for 75, they cheapen the entire industry and effect all of our incomes. My locals are 125. 40 miles rt, scanbacks are additional and large pkgs I do cover a large area so my travel fees go up...I do get more bookings...than I turn down. I have found that if you say no, they call me back at my quoted fee

I stay with my $150 for docs 100- 120 pages. 20 miles one way, no fax backs. I get $50 for 2 Affidavits when they hire a Notary for $75 and they have to come to me to correct their $75 notaries mistakes.
